An Evening of Gathering by the Television and PC Screen

Lots of suprising events or little things have occured recently. Well last night was where I can start. I left ERS from making the previous entry and ran into Dorm mates Lance and Joel on the way out to eat. I told them it's still early and maybe we could hang at the dorm. Just then as the skies got darker and the Acacia trees more mystical, Judith the Filipina from Jordan and from neighboring COM1-1 arrived.

I hadn't seen her for a while now so I introduced her to Lance and Joel. I got her to speak her four languages to Lance and Joel. She's from Jordan as Lance was from Germany as Joel was from Indonesia as I was from Japan.

Then Brian the "dorm mate from Kuwait" and classmate of HS batchmate Veejay Siongco passed by. We sort of jumbled up into this group like some filter on a drain. We reached the on-campus girls' dorm lobby to where my classmate Danielle returned Joel's CD and Tape from last week's Variety Show in Literature.

Judith also had to return some notebook to a classmate she had and she took off. The three of us went to the room to hang for a few minutes.

The three of us ate at Fiat later, much to my disapproval since we did eat there Monday night and had a very long conversation about DJs on Radio with Ate Precious. The three of us ate a very delicious Pork Spareribs Sinigang while we enjoyed some background music and a few more rounds of free rice in a bowl. Ate Precious questioned Joel why he wasn't eating his Pork. I stared at his bowl for a moment and noticed that Joel dumped his soup on the rice and flooded his plate at the same time the Spareribs inside the bowl started to turn cold and dry.

He doesn't really like Pork. Where have I heard that before? I think back in High School... ^_~

I thought we'd get off easy without an extended conversation about Radio again when suddenly Ate Precious started talking about it again to me. It all concluded that I have the option on submitting a demo tape to her, and she will personally hand it to King DJ Logan of Magic 89.9, my all time favorite radio station. She's friends with many DJs, she was once a DJ herself but she didn't quite reach the mainstream. But like she said the night before, once you've tapped into the world of the Radio... you're bound to have friends in different stations and a whole truckload of free tickets and fun for the next decade.

I was caught by suprise with the whole Demo Tape thing. Yes, I do want to be any man in the Media. From a writer up to a disk jockey... anything and I'll give it a try. Campus Patrol of Magic 89.9?! I agree with her that it's worth a shot, but right now I just found out that I had a voice and now I want to work on it first.

Let's stash that for a moment.

We reached back into the dorms and there it was still early, around 7:30PM. Samurai X finished and then it was Dawson's Creek, a very old rerun... as in, when they were all still in Capeside. I didn't bother and instead witnessed before me the semi-conclusion of the Dorm Dilemma that is about the Missing Items of last August. Remember Sharif the true foreign guy from Jordan? He moved out because someone took his camera. The suspect was already alleged by many. A missing cellphone, a missing pair of shades, a set of prepaid cards that were missing... but no proof.

Until yesterday.

While I received a Txt from A3 (opposite our room, F3, on the girls side) and they told me to raise the volume of my television so they can watch the Creek. I was shy and instantly confined to my bed, not wanting them to see me walk around. But the drama outside was developing even further so I went outside. The victim, Sharif and the proven suspect, "Dino" (not real name), where at the E-House or Lobby having a confrontation in front of the Sisters and Matrons. Sharif somehow passed by earlier and my dorm neighbors informed him.

Anyways, "Dino" was in my room watching Samurai X. "Dino" is always in our room. I stay alert when he's inside the room. "Dino" isn't a bad guy. He's intelligent, fluent in English, and I bet the girls like him a lot. He's in a very honorable course too. But all that crashes to the ground with his problem. Cleptomaniac? Is that the word? Iono, must look it up.

"Dino" retreated to my room just at the end of Dawson's Creek. At the same time I had just met Mark from the first room of the men's dorm, F1. To think of it, why did we just meet now? It's the Finals and we just met after all these weeks? Anyways to quickly throw this in, Mark is as deep into movies as I am as deep into television shows. He said he wants to practice english with me and I think we just opened up a friendship...

...a friendship that opened at exactly the right time. If "Dino" entered the room with me just staring at the TV and knowing him, his actions, his past, his present... I don't know how I'd do it. I don't know how I'd be able to say "Hey Dino, want some chips?".

"Dino" entered with dried tears in his eyes, that Sharif that Lance and I miss having over and laughing with us really did something to "Dino".

The next big thing was the SMALLVILLE Series Premiere on Philippine Television. I gathered a handful of neighbors and we quickly entered the room and turned off all the lights and looked at our television screen... the first scenes of Smallville.

-- 57 Minutes Later --

I was left in a trauma. The show was excellent!! It will be just as strong as my love for Charmed!! I couldn't tell if it was the way the show and the storyline and the cinematic background music or Kristin Kreuk's eyes... but I just loved the show!! I reacted by txting my Kuya Luigi of the CharmedPH and SmallvillePH forums.

The room emptied and I tried to study for Algebra and Literature for the following day. However, I just couldn't. Kurt was now at the extremest of low with his deep love of a HS batchmate of mine, at the same time I was thinking after Smallville in my room that my neighbors would be sleeping... instead- next door in F4 a dozen pairs of slippers were piled up and bunched up by the screen door under the orange light and inside it was dark and Anthony's PC screen was on and the movie "Sorority Boys" was showing. No wonder I heard bursts of laughing time to time in my lonely room.

Down in F6, they were lively with illegal Rice Cookers and food, lights, Brian on the computer, and Joel, Lance, and the rest of the Kuwaiti dudes playing rounds of Magic.

And at the very end of the hall, F11... compared to the sentimental tunes and the dim lighting of the room that Kurt put up to express his love of a high school batchmate... it was changed, it was scary. The music was "painful rock", like that of Korn or something, and the lights were totally off. He was in the corner, and his head was wrapped totally with his bonnet, and only the blue light of his phone hitting him. He's depressed.

I retreated to F3, and everytime I'm near the bed I fell sleepy. With Literature and Algebra notes to study, I just wasn't in it anymore. I ate marshmallows, drank water, had Magic flakes, had the TV on different channels every few minutes on low volume... but still no influence to study well. I studied moderately, but I wanted to study well. "Red Dragon", the prequel to "Silence of the Lambs" in connection with "Hannibal" was showing in F6... my room mate Jan brought it. That kept F3 empty until 2AM.

Around 12MN, I decided to re-adjust my bed and move it to a different position for the first time since I moved into the dorm about four months ago.

Then I fell asleep.
