BRING ME BACK TO LIFE
Carpe Noctem (Seize the Night) - Start of Week #33

"I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired!"

Roaaaaarrrrr! After 4 Days, 4 Nights of rest at home, I've had enough of being sick! Not that I can simply vanquish my sickness like that, but it's just after all the resting and all the medication, I'm ready to jump out of bed and leap back into the battlefield. Here's a recap of my long-weekend of rest.

1ST NIGHT - (Friday Night)
Condition: Cold, stable, recovering Fever

I surrendered to my sickness and didn't stay for my Saturday class. I called up my house using Lance's cellphone (i ran out of load) and got picked up in the early evening. Before calling, dormers would find me confined to my dorm room bed looking miserable and wearing the same clothes as the day before. I dropped my Laundry off at the [Laundry Stop] and when I arrived home, I changed a little and collapsed onto my bed tired.

1ST DAY - (Saturday)
Condition: Inactive fever, slight headache

Happy Birthday Mom!!! I don't know what got into me, but on Saturday you would find me surfing the net and watching television. I also wanted to continue reminiscing the music of Freshmen Year, that I even watched "Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" just to catch the songs used in our Mass Demo last Lasallian Days 2003.

2ND NIGHT - (Saturday Night)
Condition: Inactive fever, slight headache

Evening came and I watched Survivor. I knew there were guests outside and my Uncle and his drinking buddies were outside as well. That was the atmosphere. But suddenly, my fever felt like it was returning and I was getting this intense headache that I've never had before.

2ND DAY - (Sunday)
Condition: Recovering from a fever, on-off headache, stomach upset
Medications: Tempra/Paracetamol, Diatabs, and a whole lotta' water

It would be the only actual day I dedicated fully to sleep and drinking of water. My appetite had worsened by Saturday night. Since the middle of the previous school week up until Sunday morning, I have never finished a single meal! I would only eat parts of it, eat half of it, but never finish it.

My headache was at it's worse, my fever would return occasionally, and I had symptoms of LBM. It was starting to make me tick, but I calmed down and thanked God still for the many times I was healthy during Freshmen Year College.

3RD NIGHT - (Sunday Night)
Condition: Recovering from a fever, on-off headache, stomach upset
Medications: Tempra/Paracetamol, Diatabs, and a whole lotta' water

I would be found sleeping most of the time. I barely left my bed. The only time I left my bed was when I had to use the restroom. Now that there's nothing much to say about Sunday night, I can describe my environment. There's this really comfy bright yellow mink blanket that's on my bed. It isn't hot to lie down on like what many might think, it's just warm. All the curtains in the room are yellow now, so together with the bright yellow mink blanket, it sometimes makes me feel my room is some kind of room to a palace in some distant desert land. You'd also find Water, half-eaten food still on the plate, some sunkists laying around. If the TV isn't on, it's for sure MAGIC 89.9 would be playing in the background.

3RD DAY - (Monday)
Condition: Recovering fever, slight headache, LBM
Treatment: Water and lots of fluids

As classmates started their week off, I would be found in bed sleeping. When I wake up, the alignment of my room's window makes my room look so nice and warm in the morning. I mean, the morning light enters my room. Sadly, when the sun sets, you can't see or feel it in my room. (The sun sets around 2 o'clock in the afternoon from my room, joke).

The Grammies! I was going to listen to it live on the radio with MAGIC 89.9 but then I remembered "Why listen, when you can watch?". I turned on the television and searched a few channels, and Magic 89.9's LIVE on the radio + Star World's LIVE on Television produced an interesting echo.

On the radio, it really sounded and felt LIVE. You could hear the audience more. But on television, you were watching the ordinary kind of LIVE. I decided to watch the one on television. Well actually, I wanted to use the radio as the sound and the television as the visual, but it would just produce echo's and audio-video mis-match.

Norah Jones stole the show. She looks charming and all, but after she won more than two already it was starting to get annoying. I like her music and all, but I feel sorry for the other artists in those other categories who deserved some spotlight too. How many times did we see Avril just looking at the stage, all serious, looking bad-trip even.

I spent Monday half-resting, and half-active by surfing just a little. Some people came by the assess the estimate of the next project to be done in our house- painting the ceilings and the cabinets.

4TH NIGHT - (Monday Night)
Condition: Healing from Fever, Headache, and LBM

Buffy and Charmed were reruns. I was surfing and also resting. I was actually ready to return to La Salle, but it's just the LBM factor. I don't want to return to the dormitories until I know I'm okay and strong enough already. I could return to La Salle and fix my headache there, but with the bathroom trip, no thank you.

4TH DAY - (Tuesday)
Condition: Still healing from all sicknesses of the past weekend

Aldrich and Mik are coming over, perhaps I could get a boost in energy with their presence and reminding myself I have duties to return to, friends to return to. I miss my classmates now.

***

I have the following articles to work on and complete before I return to La Salle tonight. (1) La Salleño 1993 in Review (2) La Salleño 1996 in Review (3) La Salleño - A Decade of Pop Culture (4) Un Chien Awarding.

Hopefully I can jumpstart my work for the HF, which has been gravely in the negative the past week and a half. I will submit all La Salleño articles first thing Wednesday morning before Statistics. I will set appointments for interviews at the College of Law Enforcement and Public Safety (CLEAPS) for the Collegiate News. I will work on the Media Awareness Days article with Kay Mori. I will set appointments with CLA-parties for the USC Elections 2003. And as a bonus to add more of my work towards the last Broadsheet of the Schoolyear, I will do an article about the experimental Men's dormitory and I will interview that "bitch" (matron).

In Academics, I have to make up for lost time as well. And in Foreign Filipino, I must conduct those surveys.

I'm returning to La Salle for a four-day week. Two days and two nights have been slashed off, hopefully I can return to doing all the work in the smallest time.

In God I find my strength. Here I go.
