After going to my Grand Aunt's 80th Birthday earlier which was themed Hawaiian (her children and grandchildren are here from the states) and enjoying the good food, my Kuya Henry picked us up at our house and took us to Cavite City.
CAR HUNTING - RESULT #02
Type: Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV)
Made: Honda
Model: Special Edition CR-V (2003 Model)
Color: Glossy Black with Limited Edition CR-V Silver Side Logos
Price: P1,193,000 (Automatic)
License Plate: No License Plate Yet
Visited: May 3rd 2003, 4:00pm, at DAM Motor Sales in Cavite City
Notes: It was the first CR-V where we all got inside and turned it on. We couldn't drive it because it was inside of the showroom. We switched on the Aircondition and my mom loved the spacious CR-V (not the Van kind of spacious, but the ordinary car kind of spacious). It was a good CR-V, but since it was both expensive and the color of it was black (my parents hate that color for a car) we dismissed it.
After Cavite City, the plan was to go home. But instead, we ended up going into Metro Manila again. Our next stop to search for a CR-V was at the official Honda Dealer in Alabang. We passed by two SMs and the Las Piñas area was loaded with car dealers and autoshops. It was a haven almost! But they wearn't selling CR-Vs (as visible when we passed by down the road). On the other hand though, we saw a lot of CR-Vs on the road. From Limited Editions to all the different colors. Everytime one would pass by, my eyes would be looking at it. We could've encountered two dozen CR-Vs from Cavite City to Alabang.
We finally arrived at the huge showroom of Honda Cars in Alabang. Well, it wasn't that big since there were like only three vehicles on display... but you know what I mean. It's the official Honda Dealer. The centerpiece of Honda Cars in the area.
CAR HUNTING - RESULT #03
Type: Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV)
Made: Honda
Model: Brand New CR-V (2003 Model)
Color: Monte Carlo Red
Price: P990,000 (Automatic)
License Plate: No License Plate Yet
Visited: May 3rd 2003, 5:30pm, Honda Alabang
Notes: We came to Honda Alabang searching for connections to second-hand CR-Vs model 2000 and above. The Senior Chief Executive or whoever wasn't there, but the salesman that was there gave us their card to get further information. I read some information on the panels next to the CR-V on display and I also picked up a "review" brochure made by journalists who have experienced the CR-V. hey, journalists? The CR-V 2003 Model is a few mm's wider and longer than the preceding year models. I noticed, since the cabin inside looked slightly bigger.
Afterwards Kuya Henry led us to Metropolis (I've never been here, but I always see this mall everytime I go to Festival Supermall). The mood of the mall was depressing, no offense. I'm used to the brighter malls such as Festival, ATCs, SMs, Robinsons... and when we came here it was a clash of bargain kiosks and known designer shops. It was confusing! The main part of the mall was also dim... and since I didn't expect I'd be roaming inside a crowded mall, I felt a little uncomfortable at first walking around with the Alabang crowd all around.
We went in circles trying to find the "Quality Used Cars" showroom. Finally, we found it. Only one CR-V.
CAR HUNTING - RESULT #04
Type: Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV)
Made: Honda
Model: Second-hand CR-V (1999 Model)
Color: Monte Carlo Red
Price: P670,000 (Stickshift)
License Plate: WEY 139
Visited: May 3rd 2003, 6:15pm, Metropolis Quality Used Cars Showroom
Notes: The dim setting of the mall opted for the same dim setting of the showroom. A maroon CR-V was in the center of this air-conditioned parking lot. It was the only CR-V there and there were about 50 cars inside that room. A man next to the CR-V was the dealer and my mom fell in love with it already since it was maroon. Me, on the other hand, was turned down already by the model year (1999) and the color of the CR-V. If it was an Automatic, my mom would pick this result as a "semi-finalist" (i can't find another word). We got another call card and told the guy to ask around for a Silver or Green CR-V, Model 2000 and above, Automatic. Then we left.
We passed by Festival Mall and retreated to SM Southmall. I txt'd my future room mate Alex and my classmate Rona that "I was in SM Southmall." since this was the mall they frequented since they are from Las Piñas. I was amused by the replies I got from both of them.
From Alex: [Kausap me rona fne, hehe u enjoy ,sana sm me den nyn, para kitakits, Ingatz ha lagi]
From Rona: [Ei ge0rg...sm pla u hu..hehe..i ws t0kn 2 alex ovr d f0ne a whle ago...g0ta go 2d church nw..tc..fil at hme s mal k...]
We ate at Popeyes and then my mom had her hair blow-dried downstairs at Ricky Reyes. My brother, my mom's cousin Kuya Henry, and I roamed around the 1st two levels of the mall (I wonder why we never went upstairs). We stopped by a few sports shops and we went to National Bookstore where I looked for the Whiteboard-Corkboard Mixed thing to put in my room. They didn't have the one I was looking for. I bought a Mother's Day Card and then we left.
After enjoying a Pearl Coolers' Chocolate, we went to mom and then we went to Popeyes again for some take-out. Afterwards, we went home.
On the way home, we passed by many CR-Vs and vice versa... they passed by us. I think I have a crush on the Silver CR-Vs. Parang ngayon ko lang na-realize na ganon ako ma-addict sa pag-hanap at pag-tingin sa mga CR-V. Everytime they pass by, my eyes lock down on them and I imagine myself driving it down the road.
Four CR-Vs later and we haven't found any close matches yet. Today it's been an argument between second-hand (P700,000) and brand new (P990,000)... since the second-hand we've been encountering are kind of expensive.
I suspect the next few days while my Kuya Henry starts his seafare training will be filled with mostly telephone calls and contacts. Hopefully we find the one we are looking for... I am looking for. [SUV, CR-V, 2001 Model and above, Moderately Priced Second-hand, and Satin Silver Metallic color].
