ARMED WITH MY TAPE RECORDER
Carpe Noctem (Seize the Night) - Year 2 - Starting Week #21
Background Music: "The Voice Within" by C. Aguilera
NOTE: This is a weekly blog entry that is posted at the start of the week prior to moving into my dormitory.
IF only I can change the line "Young girl..." to "My friend..." in that song sung by Christina Aguilera ["The Voice Within"]. If only I had the chance to sing such a ballad from the guy's point of view. If only I could sing that song to all my friends who are having problems. If only... I had a singing voice in the first place.
My voice is for commentaries and documentaries. Oh well.
Anyways, this week I'm preparing for interviews... lots of them. I'm going to engage in processing all these interviews by the end of the week so I can submit my articles at least two days before the deadline. You can call that a goal.
Lately, things have gotten a bit more complicated. But it's all in time management. Last Saturday, I was elected into the position of Secretary for the International Students Association (or ISA, which is the acronym I will be using instead of ISO or International Students Organization).
Secretary?! Am I crazy to accept such a position?! Secretaries must be at every meeting to write down the moments. Secretaries have to do all the paperwork and processing of them.
Do I even have time for this?!
It's crazy. I'm already working full-time with renewed inspiration for the University Publication. I'm about to commit myself into a series of rush tapings at the AB Comm Channel since the Executive Producer set a deadline at the end of the Prelim term for all productions and segments. I'm also increasing efforts towards my academics this semester...
...and, I'm feeling it's time my emotions guide me. Either something big to me is coming up soon or something small that will just disappear. I have no idea.
As secretary, I'll do my part in uplifting the ISA and get it known around our University. If I can't succeed in doing that, I will resign... but my aid to the ISA won't cease there.
Taking note, Zubair and Lance were elected as Public Relations Officers. Aldrich was also elected as coordinator for the ISA Travel Group.

Back to Batulao! The JOU2-1 2nd Year Recollection is on Thursday. It's just a one day thing, no overnight which really really bites. They removed the overnight recollections due to certain reasons (read the HF Broadsheet XVIII-2). We will be leaving in the morning and returning in the early evening. I hope it'll be fun, even if it's just one day. It's at Charles Huang again... for the nth time for me. Hehe.

Here are the four pillars of my college life:
Academics/JOU2-1. I need to do a little catching up. I'm not far behind, I'm just behind in terms of organizing my notebook and some of my other handouts. A few new sliding folders ought to help me out. Of the three majors, Laws of Mass Media (on Monday) is going to be a joy-ride with our "green minded terror prof". But I'm sure we'll learn something there, we'll be forced to learn it! Hehe. In Intro to Journ and Intro to Broad, radio production and a current events quiz. Conditioning exercises for PHED104 Team Sports Volleyball. Animal Farm for Litt of the World. And of course, our 2nd Year Recollection is on Thursday. It sucks, it's just one day.
Heraldo Filipino. Interviews at the Enrolment station and elsewhere. News articles are due to Paul Membrebe on Saturday (I'm planning an early submission for Thursday) while LS articles are due to Joanna Buenaventura on the last Saturday of the month (I'm also planning an early submission, on Thursday of that week).
AB Comm Channel/ISA. T-Shirt and the Broadjourn logo is what's going on with the AB Comm Channel. Tapings and scheduling are up next since we have to meet a new deadline by the end of the preliminary term which is next month. For the ISA, I'm going to coordinate with Sir Sieg and research the files of the ISA. Maybe it can help me formulate an Organizational Chart, which I believe would serve as a backbone of this organization. Take note, we did not apply to become part of the ISA... all foreign or international students are automatically part of it. It's just the encoding process that is difficult.
Dormitory/Tropa. Things are alright here. I'll just finish up my wall of pictures and start working on a new security-zone in my room where all my things are behind clear plastics instead of open and exposed. I also need to get Kyle's schedule. Of the tropa, hopefully some night outs (i'm not expecting us to be all there, but at least some of us). I want to talk to Abbie, Mark, Lance, and Tony more this week. I feel like I need to talk to them more often about things that bother us.

My friend, don't cry
I'll be right here when your world starts to fall
My friend, it's all right
Your tears will dry, you'll soon be free to fly
...
When there's no one else
Look inside yourself
Like your oldest friend
Just trust the voice within
Then you'll find the strength
That will guide your way
If you will learn to begin
To trust the voice within
