A Farewell to our classmate, Christine Real.
THE day I met Tintin in person, was when she was lying down in a hospital bed inside the University Medical Center (UMC). It was a rainy Saturday morning during the First Semester of my Freshmen Year. The song "Only Hope" by Mandy Moore was playing everywhere I went... on the jeepnees and on the radios in the canteens.
She had been rushed to the hospital by my classmate Natz, after her appendix imploded. She was found in her dorm room lying down unconscious for a few minutes. Luckily, my classmate Natz rushed her to the hospital before she would suffer from some type of bacterial infection or poison coming from the ruptured appendix.
I didn't even know her. I didn't even remember all the names of my 49-member block section during that time. I was attending a VPAPU General Assembly, if I wasn't mistaken, when my classmate Tope said we could go visit our classmate at the hospital.
I bought Tintin a "Get Well" card at 7-11 and signed it with "On behalf of JOU1-1". Tope and I went to the hospital and even if I barely knew her, I still handed her the card.
From there, I've always seen Tintin as a friend that I feel I must protect or watch over. Feeling ko, parang ako ang naka-assign na "Guardian Angel" sa kanya. In the span of one year, we've been to her boarding house at the DasmariƱas Bayan. In the 1st Semester of my 2nd Year College, we were seatmates. We always talked to each other about Constitution, about the assignments, about the tasks...
In PHED103 Exotic Dance, we formed our own group and she and my other classmate Joanna, led the choreography to dancing for the Egyptian-inspired Dance Midterm Practical. The song was "Baby Boy" by Beyonce and we were the first in the class to use a different song aside from the default song "Walk Like an Egyptian".
Well, now she's headed off towards some time off before resuming her studies. Hopefully she gets to pursue what she really wants, which is Fine Arts.
From now on, I'll be making special posts about people when the time is right. God Bless Tintin!
