HALF A DECADE LATER
Carpe Noctem (Seize the Night) - Year 2 - Starting Week #20
Background Music: "Behind Blue Eyes" by Limp Bizkit
NOTE: This is a weekly blog entry that is posted at the start of the week prior to moving into my dormitory.
THIS week, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (news, websites) will be visiting DLSU-D. It's a surprise visit, but some of us already know. Mga Broadjourn talaga...
Anyways, the launch of "Rising Academics" is this week. What the f*ck is that? Well, it's me trying to sustain consistency in my studies. Let's recall that one 3.25 become a 0.00 in Constitution last semester before resulting in a final grade of 2.00. See what I mean?
This is the first semester where there is no filipino subject. In my span of studying here in the Philippines, there's always a filipino subject to drag down my overall average. And ever since the start of 2nd Year college, there are no more math or general science-related subjects. So, the clouds are clearing.
The thing is though, there are three majors this semester. We just got our Syllabus in Intro to Broadcasting and guess what, it is cram-packed with so many activities and events. Imagine us, those enrol'd in the subject, will be the production and coverage crews of all the CLA and CAD events. We'll be assisting productions and coverages as well.
Thing is though, it's exciting. Never before have I studied a subject that I really have interests in. Who says I'm shifting? Who still thinks I'm going to shift?
I know where I belong and where I want to be, and I'm going there.

And now the Four pillars of my 2nd Year College:
Academics/JOU2-1. Three majors and a bunch of minors. I'm trying to engage in following my friend Mark Panizales, who is one of the nine remaining Accountancy-proper majors in 2nd Year at DLSU-D. Mark has so much energy to study, and I'm trying to find that energy and use it to succeed. Anyways, this week would be opening lectures, lessons, etc. I hope everything goes smoothly.
Heraldo Filipino. We will be conducting our interviews this week for our articles. My plan is to finish these articles before the 4th Week of November. I'm also helping out at the office in collecting the photocopies of Class Cards of everyone... since our OCM is starting her OJT this week.
AB Comm Channel/ISO. Some activity is starting up again at the AB Comm Channel. A New ID and the AB Comm Channel T-shirt. And what's new to this pillar is "ISO" or the International Students Organization. I'm planning on being active as much as possible here... since membership isn't by application, it's by status. Seminars about leadership, stuff like that... would be found there.
Dormitory/Tropa. Our dorm last week looked lonely and I hope this week I can successfuly bring it back to life like in the 1st semester. Our room was like an apartment and a moviehouse in one. I need to buy locks for my cabinets, new covers for the lights (since they shine so bright in your face, you have to cover them up with cartolina paper or something), etc. And with the tropa, the return of Joel and the dinner night outs.
Wish me luck on this week of discussions and lectures!
