THE LAST PARACETAMOL
The Damage Report - Year 2 - Ending Week #30
Background Music:
The soundtrack of "The Last Samurai"

NOTE: This is a weekly blog entry that summarizes a series of events of a finished week in and around La Salle.

I WAS DOWN with a fever this past week making it the worst week for my health for my 2nd Year College. I remember feeling this kind of sick during my freshmen year. I recalled how hard it was back then, too.

This fever of mine started last Sunday. I just woke up from a good night of surfing and my temperature was suddenly high and my body ached.

I was still set to go and return to La Salle last Sunday night instead of Monday morning since we had a make-up class in Journ and I had a presentation in World Litt.

Sunday night I went to the dorm and my mom met Aldrich's parents.

Crushing the tablets

I'm this 18 year old that still doesn't know how to swallow a tablet or a pill. Talk about weirdness. Go ahead and start blaming me. When I was still a little kid, I drank syrup medicine. During the times we had to make the switch to taking pills and other sorts, I didn't really get sick. So they suddenly throw pills and tablets at me when I'm 15 and I get traumatized with this one time I was afraid of choking to death.

Monday was bad. I missed the Journ make-up class. I missed the PHED104 make-up class. I missed my presentation in World Litt (although my group mates were generous enough to include me and not mark me as an absent group member). I also missed a long quiz in Logic.

Life was really... fucking beautiful.

Then in Laws, the subject I tremble with the most right now, happens and it's three hours of several replayed jokes from Sir RS. Yes, replayed. He's trying to get us to laugh and all, but we already laughed to them a few weeks ago.

After classes, we all went to Ara's house in Silang. I was riding with Upper and we were stuffed in her SUV.

We dropped by the Big R Supercenter to do a little groceries with my classmates that dorm. We returned to La Salle just before curfew.

The Midterm exams

Throughout the week I felt weak, tired, and beaten by my own health. My level of working and efficiency was down and depressing. I was in the dorm usually lying down. I traded bed positions with Kyle for the last half of the week.

Water treatment... more paracetamol-tempras... a little studying and a little kwento...

Tuesday - Day One was REED104 and LITT102. Both were ok.

Wednesday - Day Two had only LOGIC. It was just terrible.

On Wednesday night I didn't join my tropa peeps in COM2-1 in going to Malate since I was still semi-recovering from a fever. The on and off stage of my fever started on Wednesday.

Japanese Air

On Thursday morning I met up with Leah and Eric and we all headed for the bayan to board a bus bound for Ayala. We got off at the Glorietta complex and we started our hunt for Leah's debut gown.

We watched "The Last Samurai" and the movie was just great. It almost made me cry. It was the first time I watched a movie at G4. We didn't have Starbucks though.

We met up with Leah's sister-in-law and we toured the mall. Despite my feeling sick, I just kept going and kept walking. We took two stolen shots of the gowns so Leah can get an idea of what gown she really wants.

We took another bus to get us to the Bicutan exit of the southbound expressway. We got on a jeep and we entered Leah's neighborhood which is really next to the railroad. Home along the riles!

My fever started to return a bit and I was starting to panic but I didn't show it to Eric & Leah. We left a few minutes later for Villa Salud, which is also in Taguig and which was decided that night to be the official venue for her debut.

While I was in the backseat feeling sick... feeling dizzy... as we drove across the industrial city of Taguig with its many streets and its many factories... I was imagining the complete opposite.

I was trying to do some type of mental therapy on myself. Trying to sooth myself and cancel out my fever with my mind.

I imagined the dark streets as a milk chocolate dirt road on the side of a vast utopian jungle. The backdrop was a majestic mountainside and just in the distance was a dreamy seashore.

The darkness of the night became the light of the day. The van I was riding became this futuristic chariot hovering over the path towards paradise.

And I'm glad to say, for a few seconds, it worked. Hehehe. I felt a few seconds of relaxation and my fever had been suspended too.

We visited Villa Salud and the place isn't so bad. Although finding it is a little hard, the place is nice. It reminded me of Katz' debut venue in San Pedro, Laguna on the day before I turned 18 myself (July 12, 2003).

They gave us food samples and it was just delicious. I had to crush my tablet somewhere, and I did, in public... in front of Leah's brother Kuya Sam and his wife... it felt weird. But I had to take my medicine.

We dropped by Leah's house one last time before rushing back to DLSU-D. It was curfew already (read: 9:45pm) but I was clearly in civilian and I arrived at the dorm from a van... and my excuse was that "I came from home." which I didn't have to use.

Friday's exam was Computer (I was a bit late for it, 10am) and Journalism (another brain drainer... I didn't agree with Sir Yab's part there were respect is naturally given... I believe it's earned... and those who are respected need to respect others as well... hmph...

The afternoon was lame. I mean, really. We were all tired but we still had to do some shooting and taping for our 30-minute feature for Broadcasting class.

I had HF problems by Friday night. I went to the office and tried to fix my articles, get interviews despite being sick, but still these problems were just different. I want to talk about these in the next Carpe Noctem.

Friday night and I was resting in my dorm room.

A night out with the media men

It was a rare thing, but I'm thankful God let it happen. It's what I like to call the "three media men of the dorms"... Daryl of AB Comm 1-3 ... Tony of AB Comm 1-1 ... and of course yours truly from Broadjourn 2-1. This was the first time we got together and hung out... just us...

Just the three of us.

We were supposed to meet up with Leah & Eric, but they were at Kay's dorm. So the three of us ate out at Arrozja. I introduced Daryl and Tony to it. Tony fell in love with the place, well, that's exactly what he said. Daryl, on the other hand, complimented by saying he'll take someone and they'll have a date there.

I ordered the Thai Bowl which is this rice with these exotic toppings with mango slices on the edges of the bowl... it was nice. The only thing is, I had a sore throat at the time so I couldn't really finish the food.

After eating we left and the people at Inasal stopped us. Why? Because they opened up a coffee shop. The Inazalle Cafe.

Bullshit! Hindi nga!!

INAZALLE CAFE! And the coffee samples they gave us just tasted so good!!

We waited for awhile to get our free samples, of which we had on take out since it was already curfew. Nice! There's an Inazalle Cafe now!

We returned to my dorm and Daryl and Tony stayed. Lance also checked in and I gave him some noodles since he didn't have dinner yet.

Tony played the piano while Daryl played the guitar. Daryl was experiencing problems with his girl best friend who he's in love with but she suddenly starts confessing something that just angers Daryl, and even me perhaps. But Daryl still loves her despite that... woah.

We watched three movies, well technically I just watched the first two since I was sleepy for the third one. The Lizzie McGuire Movie, Finding Nemo, and Cradle to the Grave.

Sigh. If only we could hang out more often. It was nights like those that made me realize it'll all be gone in just six weeks when 2nd Year ends and Summer begins. No more on-campus dorm after six weeks. A permanent goodbye? Not sure.

JOU2-1 on a Saturday?

[I'm tired now, and need to get some rest, so I'll just summerize from here.]

Woke up past lunch and missed a possible chance in getting the documents from the OSA about the accident of the Lasallian students the other week before.

Ate with Tom at Georjops. Leah & Eric followed together with Keith, Arjay, and Rachel Quierrez. Arjay and Rachel went shooting at the Tsuba Street.

We all returned to the campus and at the Rotonda... Badge's group in Broadcasting was having a taping there. I just felt so cold at the time. Not literally cold... if you know what I mean...

At ERS, I finally saw what my classmates were making. It's this exhibition for the Literature week (which is next week). It was fun seeing my classmates back in action again... the busy-busy "last minute magic" which is a signature feature of JOU2-1... hehehe. While they kept working, they kept a cheerful conversation with someone... others joked... others were so serious working... it was fun.

I also found out that JOU2-1 will be re-staging TATARIN for the third time... woah! It's for the ABS-CBN morning show MAGANDANG UMAGA BAYAN taping here in our campus next week for the opening of Media Awareness Days 2004. Whaaaaat?! Woah.

Eric accompanied me to the library and I photocopied the notes for Laws which I badly need to copy into my notebook ASAP. We also found the book we've been looking for "The Secret Language of Birthdays" and I got a copy of mine and of Badge's (even if... well... the love doesn't exist there anymore...) for curiousity sake. Eric got his and Leah's birthday pages and we had it photocopied.

I rushed to my dorm and my pick-up was already there.

***

I'm still recovering from being sick. I have a slight cough. I also have a slight sore throat. My eyes are tired. My body is weak.

And there are still so many things to do. So many. Too many to mention.

I'm lucky my will to keep updating my online journal is standing strong. Because in all honesty, with all the things I'm feeling now... all the things I have to do... there's just no more time for this.

But this is an episode in my story that has to be recorded.

Wish me all the best. ^_~
