A TWICE BLESSED SUNDAY
A baptism in the morning, a wedding in the evening

TODAY I became God Father again to another baby. But this time, it's different. The baby belongs to a friend from HS, Candy. She gave birth to a bouncing baby boy last October and today was Ethan Lorrenz welcome to the Christian World.

I arrived in Rosario about an hour late from the scheduled meeting time. Partly due to my own accidental doing and the other part due to that painstaking traffic past EPZA! The traffic in Rosario (around EPZA) is so retarded! Add to that the flooded streets.

Anyways, that didn't prevent me from smiling since I think I'm honored to be one of baby Ethan's god fathers. I walked towards the Most Holy Rosary Church of Rosario, Cavite as fast as I could and only took notice there was a fiesta going on. Out of no where, these two ladies approach me and one of them pins a "good luck charm" on me. The other hands me a plastic pendant. In short, I was fooled by these two ladies to buy something worth less than P50 but I ended up coughing up P120! Bullsh*t sila!

I don't blame myself though. I was in a hurry afterall. But if it happens again, that's what makes me the bigger fool. I learned my lesson here.

I went towards the right wing of the crowded chapel filled with parents, godparents, and lots of babies. It happened to be a mass baptismal, not a specifically or individually planned one. Nikki found me and I saw Joy and Rom behind her.

By morning: Ethan Lorrenz gets baptized

We 'swam' into the crowd and tried our best in getting to Candy and her baby Ethan, who were seated at the very front of the church. We couldn't find a seat. We could barely find space to stand either! But nevertheless, it was a very special moment.

We had to light our candles where we were standing, which was about two meters away from Candy. And when I say two meters, I mean two meters of human bumper to bumper. I managed to steal a picture of that moment.

We squeezed our way out the exit, which was a simple open door. Outside we waited for the rest and took some pictures while there was a drizzle.

I didn't want to see those two ladies who sold me out on the cheap religous merchandise. I know that they're trying to make a living. They have my forgiveness this Sunday. We walked away from the church and Nikki and Joy happened to have gotten caught up in that same thing I got caught up in. However, they only ended up paying 20 pesos compared to my 60 pesos for piece! Damn! Haha.

We took separate cars while Joy, Rom, and Nikki joined me in the CR-V. Kuya Jhong dropped us off at the Ricasata Compound and we enjoyed a delicious meal from the buffet. Rachelle and Lorraine, also studying at DLSU-D, where seated with us at the table.

It's been over two years already since we graduated high school. A lot, and I say that with complete emphasis, has happened since then. I'm not referring to myself only, but to everyone. The feeling is a mixture of sadness and excitement. If two years have gone by this fast, imagine the next two years... the next four years... the next ten years.

By afternoon: A 45-minute workout

I managed to squeeze in another day of home gym workout. I did all the exercises but cut out the Shoulder Shrug. The weather outside was still cloudy and the temperature was humid. I took a refreshing shower before leaving for DasmariƱas.

We passed by Pala-Pala on the way and I saw so many people trooping across the street carrying yellow SM Supermarket plastic bags. I was excited with glee... juiced up because the new SM was in DasmariƱas and is potentially the new "default" mall.

By evening: Ate Jho of JOU2-1 gets married

We arrived at the Town and Country and I never knew such sub division existed next to Kadiwa. The ceremonies were finished according to a text message from Eric. I arrived and dinner was just starting.

Present from the class where:
- Leah, one of two wedding singers.
- Jonee, the other wedding singer.
- Kate Q., with her boyfriend Andy and with her kumare Jonee.
- Rona, with her boyfriend Ryan. Rona was a bridesmaid.
- Joy, very busy with helping at the wedding. Joy was also a bridesmaid.
- Eric, like me... a simple classmate wanting to see another classmate get married.

It would be the second buffet setting I've seen in a day. The food, just like at the Ricasata compound in the morning, was delicious. Must be my taste buds, the extra sweat from the afternoon workout, or the party atmosphere. Hmmm...

I had Kuya Jhong buy batteries for my digicam after it went low batt. Ate Jho looked happy and four months pregnant. Her husband, Kuya Elmer, also looked happy. I've been to several debuts of classmates in the past twelve months, but nothing beats' this version of an evening event. This was the first wedding of a deemed Broadcast Journalism classmate.

In the end, it was no ordinary Sunday. This day has to go down as an instant classic for 2004. Welcome to the Christian World, Ethan! Congratulations to you, Ate Jho (and Kuya Elmer), and best wishes to your new family.

Reminiscing. (Sigh... i'm sleepy.)
