THE RUSH OF THE REAL THING
The Damage Report - Year 3 - Ending Week #9
Background Music:
"Confessions Pt. 2" by Usher

NOTE: This is a weekly blog entry that summarizes a series of events of a finished week in and around La Salle.

I BELIEVE it was in this past week where I've had the most consecutive experiences gained from the world of Broadcast Journalism. Come to think of it, it was cram-packed with projects and performances. Sadly though, I didn't have my digicam with me during the first part of the week. Even more depressing, I forgot to bring it when we went to interview one of the Art Editors of Pilipino Star Ngayon on Wednesday.

ELABORATED!

Monday - Karma and Umbrella

Monday wasn't so amazing as the rains continued to whip the trees and streets in our campus. I borrowed my neighbor's umbrella and ended up losing it at the eatery above Texas Chicken. I think karma hit me because while I was eating these annoying little street kids kept begging me for the food on my plate. I was aggravated because I wasn't finished eating yet and this one little girl kept tapping my shoulder. I saved her a small piece of chicken when I left. I don't know what was in my head when I left the umbrella I had borrowed behind.

According to Kate, the street children were calling us to get the umbrella. But I was still so aggravated by those annoying street kids that I just ignored their petty calls. So, I now owe Argent and Anthony Dulce an umbrella. Not to add, I don't even have my own umbrella.

Tuesday - Radio pointes

Tuesday morning I was in the office of Heraldo Filipino trying to print out my "Ulat Panahon" which I was going to do for ENR-I. I arrived at the Radio Production Room at JFH to find out I was replaced by Rona because I hadn't practiced in front of them yet.

Arjay, in her professionalism (which is the characteristic I admire most about her) explained to me what the group collectively decided on. I agreed, even if my grade was in the balance. Crazy as it may sound, during our evaluation Sir confirmed with my group leaders that our group had decided on a "Group grade" and not an "Individual grade". If it was an "Individual grade by evaluation" I would be drowning in the South Pacific by now. Guilty, I put my head down and just thanked my group mates in my head. I really do owe them.

After Tech Write I went with Leah and Tope to Suba Street. Tope joined the tambaypeeps while Leah and I enjoyed cheese sticks inside Brejanah (just like those lazy afternoons in Freshmen Year). We catched up on talk and afterwards went to Tanghalan Julian Felipe to catch the Day 1 6:00pm show of "VOYAGE".

It was the Pointes 'N Flexes first ever concert by themselves. Before, they just performed along with the Performing Arts Group.

It was amazing! They performed so many numbers. From Broadway "Chicago", to the SOP "Campus Frontact" numbers, to the dramatic ballet and interpretative dances "Kung ikaw ay mawawala...", to modern techno, to drums and bass... it was something to leave you with a tingling spine.

The new generation of Pointes (the probees this year) rolled on stage to perform "All Nite (Don't Stop)" by Janet and they were just so many. It was sad though, because much of the current Pointes' which I've come to love watching are graduating students! Meaning, next year it's a completely new Pointes'. Hopefully they can maintain that powerful edge.

Upper, Abbie, and I rushed to SM Dasma an hour before curfew to buy supplies for Wednesday's Newsroom production. We were put in-charge of the backdrop design.

We had take out at the newly opened Burger King and there was this promo where I won a Blazin' Burger. Cool. Back at the dorm I made the logo I had designed for Broadjourn last year. I just changed the words "BROADJOURN DELIVERS THE NEWS!" to "BROADJOURN BULLET".

Wednesday - Our first on-cam news prod

Magandang Hapon.

We had our first on-cam news room production in NPD. It was in Pilipino, which was a hassle for me again. But during my turn, Sir told me to keep on going even I tripped on some words. He was grading us based on our projection on the camera.

While we were in the Media Production Room, the Buwan ng Wika festivities took place outside JFH. It reminded me of our consecutive performances in the past two years. We won 3rd place in both, and how many block sections participated in that? Hehe. Sigh. Those were the days.

After class I rushed to HF to coordinate with the continued layout of the HF newsletter.
