BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS
The Damage Report - Year 3 - Ending Week #21
Background Music:
"Take It To The Floor" by B2K

NOTE: This is a weekly blog entry that summarizes a series of events of a finished week in and around La Salle.

WHAT ARE DREAMS really made of?

They appear soft or fuzzy with warmth coming from it. We visualize fantastic lights and an eruption of colors. Everything in our dreams feels perfect. It's because it's everything we want, and more.

That was me, over a year ago. When there was a time I walked into the classroom feeling that warmth. I remember the kilig moments at the dorm when someone would reply back.

Like I've said, things have changed. For the past four months I've been drowning in feelings that I've never felt to this magnitude. It's destroyed, ripped, or vanquished all past feelings for other people. For once, this time around, it feels so real. So true.

And so NEW without any element of BEFORE. Any scent of moonflower evaporated months ago. I got a new body bag, and it's from Marithe Francois Girbaud.

Tuesday's Sineng Bayan

The USC and 24fps collaborated to bring both experimental and underground documentaries towards the students of DLSU-D this past week. On Tuesday I attended "Sineng Bayan" for my Cinematography class.

I loved it. It made me just feel the essence of journalism at its core. One role for journalists is to serve the underdogs of society. Mainstream media is so caught up in the bigger world issues. The real people, underneath it all, experience daily hardships the elite could hardly ever imagine.

Sineng Bayan

After watching I was going to meet up with someone but it didn't push through so instead I went with Maycee, Eric, and Joanna to Mercury Drug where we were meeting Attorney Umali.

Jay-E tagged along from the crossing and when we got to the meeting place we were told that only Paul, our EIC, Maycee and Joanna, News and Associate Editors respectively, were "reserved" at the Japanese resto they were going to.

Eric, Jay-E, and I, who were leaning on the possibility of getting treated to good food by a rich lawyer, ended up crashing at Pizza Hut.

And I didn't quite enjoy spending Php 263.00 on a lunch that should've been spent with someone I had planned to have lunch with.

Joy Icayan in Dasma

Wednesday was a surprising day. I met up with Joy Icayan, my close friend from HS, and I treated her to lunch and dinner.

She was in DLSU-D for a Psychology seminar. I brought her to Inazalle BBQ for lunch and then to Fiat for dinner after her session and my ComRes I class.

It felt good to introduce her to the places I like to eat at for the past two and a half years. Before dinner I joined her in watching the cultural show at Tanghalan Julian Felipe which was done by PAG.

My friends Arjay and Tope (of JOU 3-1) performed on stage during the Teatro skit. Jeremy (JOU3-1) danced in the Pointes' roundup. Ayesha (JOU 3-1) appeared in the Filipiniana Dance Company dancing. While my room mate Tony (COM 2-1) performed with CLA's Livewire (just two of them, actually).

It was really star-studded for me because I knew a bunch of the performers.

Wednesday was also the day HF3 was distributed. I can't get enough of my column pic! I'm turning into Viva's Narcisuss! Nah. I think it's because I'm wondering what someone thinks about my column/column picture.

I gave Joy a copy and she went home after our dinner at Fiat.

Ethical, Immunity, Photocopy

I attended my Media Ethics for the first time this semester. This week happens to be the third week of the 2nd semester. I'm now taking the subject with JOU 4-1 after my registered timeslot with COM 4-4 was moved to Saturday which caused conflicts.

I'm also on my own.

I don't have my "co-advancers" Arjay, Tope, and Jhen with me. We all got split up. Jhen has it with Alelyn on Mondays with COM 4-1 while Tope and Arjay followed COM 4-4 in their migration to Saturday.

At least I'm taking up Media Ethics with Broadjourn students. That seems to be the only advantage.

I also worked on my immunity papers from the curfew this past week. I had it signed by the matron and by Mr. Caracena (EDAS). For the first time since I started dorming in June 2002, I AM NOW IMMUNE FROM THE CURFEW!

And by Thursday and Friday, I was drowning in photocopies. Photocopies in Photojournalism, Development Broadcasting, and Cinematography. I haven't even started in Media Ethics and ComRes I yet.
