POLICE, SANCTUARY, AND PROOFREADING
It's a quarter before 8:00 PM and I'm here at this internet cafe near the highway. I escaped the office to be greeted by the world's most uncontrollable mouse and absent-minded keyboard. It's fucked up, but I'm still relatively happy this evening.
Tonight I'm going to join Upper, Katz, and Eric (and whoever) on their police beat in Manila. It's a spontaneous thing actually. Since tomorrow is a holiday and my bestfriend will be at his girfriends' dorm tonight, I've decided another adventure can find its way back. This time, I hope there aren't any dead bodies in morgues. Ugh...
This past week was amazing (such understatements). On Tuesday and Wednesday I joined a handful (literally) of delegates in attending a seminar at the Saint Paul Seminary in Silang, Cavite. It was more bonding with my friend Celine Angue (from COM3-1), she's the younger sister of my editor before.
It wasn't an overnight thing. Our driver was crazy, he shouldn't be driving DLSU-D vans with that fucking attitude. The people at the seminary were so nice, it made me think 'what if i turned down this hurricane media man lifestyle for a more peaceful and secluded future with the church?'
Go figure. I still wouldn't. But if there was only a way to bridge the two. To live a busy yet serene life.
Last night Paul (our EIC), Joanna (our ASSOCIATE ED), Sir Romel (HF ADVISER) and I proofread HF5 and sent it to the printing press. Despite another delay, it felt good because for once the three of us (EIC, ASSOC, and COPY) sat down together and worked on polishing. The 14-page issue due for circulation next week is shaping up to be a bloody issue with the opinion page. Four of out of the five columns tackle critical issues. The editorial is entited "Shut up". It's exciting in a nerve-wrecking way.
Thanks for the prayer if you prayed for my friend from the previous entry. It's turning out smoothly and okay now. I hope it continues. What happened might actually be a blessing in disguise for him.
Anyways, typing this entry was hell. This keyboard needs to retire. Bye.
