VALENTINE PHANTOMS
The Damage Report - Year 3 - Ending Week #32
Background Music: "Broken Sonnet" by Hale
NOTE: This is a weekly blog entry that summarizes a series of events of a finished week in and around La Salle.
HOW DID the romantic, hopeless guy spend his valentine's day?
Counting La Salleño's in a warehouse and sitting with hands folded in the HF office.
I didn't even want to greet anyone "Happy Valentines' Day!" because mine was only happy on the night before and on that morning. I'd rather not talk about it. Just picture me picking up pieces of my heart that fell on the ground as we delivered our magazines across campus.

Infactuation versus Love
posted on the Friendster bulletin board
Infatuation is instant desire - one set of glands
calling to another.
Love is friendship that has caught fire. It takes root
and grows, one day at a time.
Infatuation is marked by a feeling of insecurity. You
are excited and eager, but not genuinely happy.
There are nagging doubts, unanswered questions,
little bits and pieces about your beloved that you
would just as soon not examine too closely. It
might spoil the dream.
Love is the quiet understanding and mature
acceptance of imperfection. It is real. It gives you
strength and grows beyond you - to bolster your
beloved. You are warmed by their presence, even
when they are away. Miles do not separate you.
You have so many wonderful little films in your
head that you keep replaying. But near or far, you
know they are yours, and you can wait.
Infatuation says, "We must get married right away.
I can't risk losing them."
Love says, "Be patient. Don't panic. Plan your
future with confidence."
Infatuation has an element of sexual excitement.
Whenever you are together, you hope it will end in
intimacy.
Love is not based on sex. It is the maturation of
friendship, which makes sex so much sweeter.
You must be friends before you can be lovers.
Infatuation lacks confidence. When they're away,
you wonder if they're cheating. Sometimes, you
check.
Love means trust. You are calm, secure and
unthreatened. They feel your trust, and it makes
them even more trustworthy.
Infatuation might lead you to do things you will
regret, but love never steers you in the wrong
direction.
Love is an upper. It makes you feel whole. It
completes the circle. It fills the empty space in
your heart. Love is elevating. It lifts you up. It
makes you look up. It makes you think up. It
makes you a better person than you were before. If
you have love in your life, it can make up for a great
many things you don't have. If there is no love in
your life, whatever else there is has a lot less
meaning.
The secret of our being is not only to live but to
have something to live for.
Wow. If it's like that, I'm in LOVE. Still am.

Devbroad exposure trip in Laguna
On Tuesday both JOU3-1 and JOU3-2 took part in an exposure trip to Canaluan, Laguna. Though it was fun to be on a "field trip" with the two sections, I was in that sentimental mood once again.
It wasn't just a trip to visit the ideal farm of the Philippines, but more of a trip to just get some fresh air from all the chaos in La Salle right now.
My seatmate and companion on the trip was Tope. I made a special request for him to hang out with me to keep my mind off my beating heart. Thanks Tope!
Pictures to follow.

And now I concede
On the night of this fifteenth song
Of melancholy, of melancholy
And in this next line
I’ll say it all over again
That I love you, I love you.
I don’t care what they say
I don’t care what they do
‘Cause tonight I’ll leave my fears behind
‘Cause tonight I’ll be right at your side.
Lie down right next to me
Lie down right next to me
And I will never let go
Will never let go.
The clock on the TV says 8:39 PM
It’s the same, it’s the same
And in this next line
I’ll say it all over again
That I love you, I love you.
I don’t care what they say
I don’t care what they do
‘Cause tonight I’ll leave my fears behind
‘Cause tonight I’ll be right at your side.
Lie down right next to me
Lie down right next to me
And I will never let go
Will never let go.
I’ll leave my fears behind
‘Cause tonight I’ll be right at your side.
Lie down right next to me
Lie down right next to me
And I will never let go
Will never let go.
But still I see the tears from your eyes
Maybe I’m just not the one for you.
BROKEN SONNET. Hale.

Buntisan at Arroz
I've never had so much fun in a long time. I finished four San Mig Lights (first time I drank in 2005) and enjoyed watching "Buntisan" at Arrozja resto. I was with Judy, Conie, and Neil (former dorm mate).
It was kulitan to the max with Judy and it felt so good to just release stress and tension when we laughed and just lived in that moment. For those few hours we spent at Arroz on Friday evening, it was like sinking into this exotic club with all kinds of alternative music. What an experience!
