A FLASHBACK OF JULY
Pictures and reflections from this month
I turned 20 years old this month. On my birthday, I was overwhelmed by everyone who greeted me especially from the CLASC. It made me realize that after deciding to serve Broadcast Journalism, I was actually moving away from my HF family and moving in with my new CLASC family.
This past month, I was making the proper adjustments between my academics and my dedication to BJPC. I admit, I think I've been too dedicated to the BJPC that the dedication for academics has been drained.
I've also learned that I can't please everyone. I know I've made many people happy, but I also know I have my own detractors who bite off my weaknesses.

Academics
In Investigative Journalism and Docu-Field Production, the two have merged for one final output at the end of the semester. We've decided as a group (there are 7 of us) to make our investigative documentary tackle the employment problem of graduates from our field. The question "Do graduates from CAD go where they want to go?" is at the root of our research.
In ComRes 2, we had our oral defense this past month. Mr. Ramirez is excellent, he's strict but he's also the most organized person and professor I've ever met. Kate and I are fully engaged into finishing our perception study of the OBB in a news program.
In Video Post Prod, communication between me and my group mates (there are four of us here) has never been so bad. I admit I have a fault in it, but the work environment and mood in our group isn't positive. Mr. Umali has opened up the opportunity of dissolving the group or having members of it transplanted somewhere else.
In our Saturday subjects, Special Cases in Broadcasting with Mr. Geslani is venting off fine. Yes, we are studying ethics and morals again related to the problems that broadcasters and journalists face. However, it feels like Media Ethics. For the Midterms, we will be doing case analysis.
For Educational Broadcasting, it gets controversial though. Mr. Calo is discussing what broadcasting is about. He's "educating" us about broadcasting, which is actually something we've done in Intro to Broadcasting and in Broadcast Management. What we were all expecting was we'd be learning about educational shows and the importance of the education system in the media. Go figure.

BJPC
The BJPC has survived another month. Although I still believe we've yet to do so much more in order for the program to truly rise like a phoenix, I am very happy that we've put together great programs and plans for the rest of the year.
We finished the GA of Broadjourn, "Orange Fever" on July 4. We also finished the first program orientation for parents in "Meet the Parents" on July 9. We've developed a newsletter for Broadjourn's bulletin board.
I am still determined with the BJPC to refresh the image of Broadjourn and transform it into an experience, not just a program.

HF
I finished the photo shoot with Tope for the HF1 photo essay. It's the first and perhaps last time I'll be doing a photo essay for Heraldo Filipino. My editor Upper loved it.
And in a surprise development (hehe), I have decided to resign from Heraldo Filipino as a senior staff. This is to give way to a policy that the EB is developing regarding their staff and their affiliations to councils and organizations. I am also doing this in order to allow HF to consider retaining members with positions based on their weight of responsibility. In short, so my 1st year representative Kritz can stay as an apprentice news staff.
I will still contribute to HF though. As much as I can.

In the end, I have to drop the things I don't need. I have to let go of the emotions that hinder progress.
The show must go on. (Truly.)
