The Damage Report - Week #6
On Monday and Tuesday, there wasn't any school due to the Barangay Elections. Congratulations to any classmates who won positions. Congratulations to Tina from Alfonso, Cavite.
On Wednesday and Friday it was the last half of the Preliminaries. Talk about sleeping late and waking up just around 5 minutes before an Exam or being 30 minutes late for a class gathering off-campus on Thursday.
On Thursday, there was no school and they held DLSU-D @ 25 Opening Celebrations with a Fundraising Run (it was a walk) and a Mass at PLS. The rest of the day I spent with Joel at Net-O-Pia playing Battle Realms, Rune, Warcraft III, etc.
On Friday it was the last two exams. Then, like always... we played at Net-O-Pia. This time, with Sharif and Lance. And in the evening, I broke the rules and was invited by Joel to sleep at F11 since he slept at F3 (my dorm) the whole week anyways. Out of 32 guys who are dorming on-campus, only 6 remained. Sharif of F5, the very mature one that Lance is so greatly interested in befriending. Then of course there will always be Basil and Brian, who really live in their room of F9 seven days a week since they're full filipinos but were born and raised abroad... specifically Kuwait. Then there's Joel of F11, the closest I'm to in all the dorm rooms... even sometimes closer then I was to Lance since Lance always keeps his cool. Then of course, Lance and myself of F3... which was abandoned Friday Night.
I fell asleep because I was extremely tired. And It was my first Friday Night in the dorm. I was staying overnight because I have a Heraldo Filipino Interview at 1pm followed by the most important VPAPU General Assembly at 4pm.
It was Saturday morning and it was raining hard once again. That makes it three Saturdays in a row of rain. Although during the week the weather was quite sunny. With William, we had to pick up a video camera from Angge and a charger from Alelyn for re-editing the tape on Sunday. The latter we never met with, which bids a terrible problem in editing. While the former, we did meet. I told William I wanted to buy a "get well" card for fellow BroadJourn classmate Christine, who was rushed to the hospital Thursday AM and the class only found out on Friday PM.
The rain was hard and we headed to the hospital. There, we went up the elevator to the third floor. The rain outside was harder, and the atmosphere of the hospital surrounded me into this different feeling. I saw wheelchairs, sick people, people in beds, families in corners, all the seats in the halls taken... and the elevator scene was like Resident Evil as William would joke.
We arrived into the room... and there was Christine. A classmate I'm not that close to yet know because she sits one seat to the right during Alphabetical Seating Arrangements. Her appendix exploded Thursday AM, and luckily Alelyn, Kate, and Nathanial (Nats) were in her boarding house when it happened. If my classmates wearn't there, Christine could have been unconscious for hours and the situation could have been worse.
Nathanial went from make-up to macho, when I heard he lifted Christine and rushed her to the hospital. With Alelyn and Kate in tears as well. Thanks to God that they were there.
So William and I spent the rest of the later morning and lunch period there at the hospital. We also ate behind HSC, it's my first time to visit the place Lance studies at. The canteen was there, good food by the way. Students not in the polo and brown pants, but in white suits.
I rushed back to campus and without an umbrella was drenched by the time I got to the Admin (GMH) for my Heraldo Interview. I arrived at 1:10pm, but the interview was 15 minutes long per person and it was first come first serve. That meant, of 15 or something people.. it would take ages.
I had to cut in before Eric at 3:40pm... exactly 20 minutes before the VPAPU assembly. I took the Panel Interview quite well compared to my first Panel Interview back in VPAPU. I didn't cry this time, and instead was all confidence at the same time humble. I swayed all their questions to safe answers, got them laughing at times... and managed to leave without making such a fool of myself.
I made "yet again" a mad dash for the ALUMNAI HALL to find they changed venue to the SBC. There I was greeted by the SECRETARY of VPAPU who I never met yet, Kuya J... 3rd year Philosophy and fellow CLA collegemate. He was real friendly in welcoming me again... in fact all of them like always.
After a while, it began upstairs. After signing up and wearing your NAME TAG... they throw Flour at you and take a picture. Then, you'd join them in throwing flour at the next incoming victim.
The whole General Assembly was great, I met new people. We are BATCH NO. 7... Charish, Mhai, Gerald, Susan, Jhen (another Jhen), Che2x, and Jerwyn (Cavite City, batchmate of my classmate Jonee, from our counterpart COM11). Add Kuya J to that as well.
I ran in the darkness towards my dorm. Even more vacant and empty then a Friday Night. I took a shower, packed up and we left for home when my cousin-in-law Kuya Philip picked me up. It was raining really hard, and it was flooded in General Trias. We got stranded there for over an hour... and he had to call his friend nearby to push the owner. We couldn't fix it, so we rented a Tricycle for home.
And at home, after the rain... all the rain of a Saturday... I ate a nice and hot Pork Sinigang with rice and watched a recording of the Gilmore Girls from earlier in the evening which was showing when we were standed in General Trias.
Title Reference: "I'm Awake in the Infinite Cold"
- a line from "Only Hope", a very dramatic theme to starting College life. Also refers to how this week ended rainy, cold, and on my own running in the rain to several places. And refers to being awake... as in being an Insomniac and lacking sleep for the past three nights.
