Swimming in a Sea of Students
The Damage Report - Semestral Break Edition - Week #1

The past week has been the first week of any kind of break from the activities of College. It's now the first of a three-week Semestral Break. This past week was spent mostly at home and working on the expansion pages of my blog. I didn't go out of the house a lot, and just stayed inside to rest.

On Wednesday I went to Bacoor with my mom and then to DasmariƱas with our driver so I could submit my NSTP Case Study, which I had only accomplished earlier this week.

On Thursday I had mowered the lawn for the first time. I mean, my parents always leave the job to the old-fashioned grass cutter with those big sissors. But heck, we live in an age of Technology... and a Lawn Mower from decades ago could save us time and money. My mom mowed the lawn, my brother did as well... and now it was my turn.

I was lazy to do it since it sounded like a hassle. When my mom asked me Thursday afternoon to mow the lawn, I was sitting comfortable in my air conditioned room editing images for my blog expansion page "Highschool G7". I went outside and then it was actually fun. It might sound stupid, but for a moment I wish I had more build and it was a hot day... my shirt was off and I was looking at a girl that looked like Maui Taylor next door.

*flash*

Forget that. Some kindah Amerikan dream yah know. *mimics flip-teasers & wannabes*

And this morning, today... Friday, was the first time for us to get our Class Cards at La Salle. I grew worried about my Kasaysayan, Ecology, and College Algebra. I met with Jerson, townmate and classmate, at McDo at 6:10AM and we left for La Salle on a jeepnee bound for Trece Martirez. Like always when we pass by Bryan's Ranch (best friend in HS, went to the states), I get a flashback when Lance and I are walking down the dirt road and the incomplete and unfinished swimming pool resort on the side.

At Trece Martirez City we encountered Jerson's classmate in his High School before, a girl named Katrina who is Nursing 1-3. I didn't know until later that this Katrina would be Candy's (from G7, high school) classmate. Woops. I never got to ask Katrina if Candy was her classmate. I did ask Katrina what section she was, she did say BSN1-3... and I asked her if she knew anyone named "Norman" who would be a dorm mate... I forgot that Norman was BSN1-5 or something, and there are eight blocks in First Year Nursing at La Salle. And of course, I forgot Candy's section at that moment.

Sorry Candy!

They started off at JFH 205 (BSN1-3) I think while Jerson and I arrived at La Salle and ran into the first Kubo. On the first Kubo was a beautiful sight. It was an arc of classmates waiting for other classmates. I missed them so much already, the moment was filled with greetings and smiles and laughing... you know.

I was happy. In just one week people already looked different. Jhen Arboleda looked blossomed. Classmate Maycee Mercado, who is also in the HF, looked fem-ee-neen! I mean, not that she wasn't before... but she's really the "Pretty Woman" walking down the street. The serious kind, who doesn't recognize it. I teased Maycee a little.

Kate had a nice haircut and seeing everyone again was like turning on television after not watching it for a week. It was a grand session where we meet again during the Semestral Break.

We flocked like pigeons and flying newspapers towards JFH 201, where we would get our first subject class card. And from there the scene got gruesome. Leading from PLS to the extremely crowded OSH, ERH, and MAH. I'll never look at those triplet buildings the same way again. It was crowded... it felt unorganized even if they tried to organize it... imagine the front doors of those three buildings OSH-ERH-MAH crowded like some early morning marketplace in some overpopulated district of the already overpopulated Shanghai.

Class Card after Class Card... those yellow class cards. I passed by Lance (HS-G7, Roommate) and Joam (Dormmate), some COM1-1 dudes minus Jerwyn, Judith, and bound-stateside Mariane.

Veejay and Chope (High School batchmates) passed by me at different times.

It was just this wild chase of following the schedule of our assigned times, rooms, and subjects. We managed to make a break for it and eat at good ol' Brejanah Cafe (the one down on the Alley). I passed by VPAPU Probees who remain faithfully kind to me after all I've done to them (leaving them). Not that leaving them is damaging to our friendships, but it makes me feel guilty to make the weight heavier on them as I bail out of VPAPU.

Then the VPAPU Officer, Kuya Eric, in charge of the Sponsorships that I haven't completed yet. That's One Grand in Peso Value due to them if I don't find any sponsors.

Forget that. HF-wise, Maycee went everywhere to sort out Pre-Reg (pre-rejh) for herself and her two companions in the HF in the class. Eric and I still agreed we'd just enroll with the rest of our classmates on October 30 instead of doing it early for Heraldo's sake. Heraldo isn't as demanding on our schedules as PAG is. VPAPU would have demanded more time next semester, especially next month during the Cultural Arts Month. And by worst the most damaging organization to the existance of a block schedule is being a probee or a member of the Teatro LaSalliana. Jhen, William, Athena, and Arjay face scraping off all subjects after 1500 hrs next semester and scrambling to reschedule it to a different time thus making them- IRREGS.

Irreg. I feared that too. I'm leaving VPAPU (I've left, but it's not official with the Officers and Adviser) which would mean leaving the demands of the PAG (Performing Arts Group, VPAPU is one of seven orgs there). HF, for goodness sakes is less demanding in terms of pressure and scheduling. Eric, Maycee, and I can retain our schedule and slide in perfectly with the rest of our Broadjourn classmates next semester. Thank you Ma'am Chiqui! Thank you... the powers that be of that newspaper office.

Irreg. Irreg from failed subjects. I didn't fail any subject which is an encouraging boost that I can do better. HF has a requirement that no grade fall below 1.75 in any subject. I have some subjects like Kasaysayan and College Algebra that fall slightly beneath that. Maycee has the same problem with one subject... and I don't think Eric has any problem with that policy. However, this is the least of my worries for some reason. Because I know I can improve next semester...

After going around La Salle a few times and going room to room and moving in hot, humid, and carbon monoxide halls... at around 3 o'clock PM after picking up our last Class Card which was General Psychology... I had declared inside myself that "I haven no failures!" at the same time surprise gradings in NSTP and GenPsy. On Monday this week I felt like NSTP would plummet to the ground, but it turned out to be tied with PE as my highest Class Card grade. And in GenPsy, it was the subject that gradually improved from the Prelim term. Subjects that flip flopped like live fish on the deck of a boat were Ecology, which is personally my worst due to a bad impression on the professor and the subject. Another would be Kasaysayan, which went up and down and stopped in the middle. Algebra remained stable... a subject I think I'm going to fail but in the end-result all that eye-squinting havok gets a passing grade on the card. Re-Ed was also just like Ecology, a bad presentation to the professor and the subject.

Enough about grades.

It was Arazelli's birthday.

[host of The Amazing Race: "Teams must now proceed to Ara's house located kilometers down the road in a town named Silang."]

-- 45 Minutes Later --

From the traffic, jeepnee, and the loudness of Broadjourn classmates we finally arrived on a slightly higher altitude. Not as high as Tagaytay, but it felt like "half way" or at least a little.

Camille, Jerson, Kate, Eric, Jess, Jhen, William, Cindy, Tina, Badge, and myself joined Ara at her house. It was great food. RX 93.1, Eric's favorite radio station (versus) my MAGIC 89.9 (hahaha)... barbeque... cake... orange juice or soda... rice... menudo... good food! Thanks Ara.

Ara did get some pictures of the event, hopefully we can get it for our Block Site next Month.

After spending a while at Ara's house in Silang, we had to go home since we all lived in different places. From San Pedro Laguna or something like that all the way to Metro Manila (William) and Tanza (Jerson and I). Even as far as Alfonso, which the route they take would bring you past the Tagaytay Rotonda. (Tina, Badge, and Cindy towards Silang Bayan).

We bagged an SM Jeepnee and Jerson and I would be the survivors of that ride. We spent an hour and a half I bet. From sunset to dark evening. From Silang highlands down to night time SM City Bacoor. We dropped off Tope (William) and the Laguna peeps in DasmariƱas. Jhen at Salitran-Dasma exit. Camille in Imus in front of 7-11 and the Lotus area. And Eric in Bacoor before SM.

Jerson and I made ourselves into SM Bacoor so he could return his Video City tapes. There I looked around, then we looked at the department store for the sake of being at SM at an earlier time (like 6-8pm) instead of late like 9 or 10pm. I bought myself a new file case for next Semester... grey with blue handles. I ate at the Food Court and we commuted home via Tanza-Bacao on a baby bus.

We passed by the Kawit Fire Station, still lit under the orange light. We even stopped there to pick people up.

Significance?

*flashback*

I'm in my white polo and grey pants... Atheneum Uniform. I'm getting on the baby bus bound for Bacao-Tanza from the Fire Station. Chope's beige bag... Bryan's black and grey bag...

Memories of High School. So recently...

We arrived at DAC (Daang-Amaya Crossing) and we split from the exact area we first met each other about 14 hours before. Jerson took another ride for his house in Tanza down the road while I took a tricycle and got home to catch the ending of Survivor V's 5th Episode where Stephanie was voted out.

What a week. I'm tired. And I'm going back to work...
