The Damage Report - End of Week #21
NOTE: this is a post that is made to give a summary of events that has happened at DLSU-D during the finished week.
A week has almost ended and I've decided to do this post now because my weekends are really short. Sometimes I even think of staying at La Salle non-stop since going home and staying home is too short. I only spend one night at home and the other six nights are in the dorm room.
This past week has been a stir between rain and sun and the typical classes.
Heh-ree Pah-tah!
I reserved my Monday morning for extra sleep since the "ABDUL IN MANILA" or HF-trip the previous day (Sunday) was physically gruelling and demanding. General Chemistry (Mondays, 0700-1000) is the first class I was absent in.
In the afternoon, some classmates surprised me when they decided to skip our Intensive English class and make a run for Robinsons Imus to catch "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". The original plan was to depart La Salle at 1500 hours after our Intensive English class, but they decided to skip it.
I didn't argue and lived in the moment and joined a small group of classmates. It started to rain, and it would be like this the rest of the week. Rain and shine, rain and shine, rain and shine...
We arrived at Robinsons and ate at Jollibee, then we watched HP2 at Cinema 2 around 1430 hours. We were situated on the deluxe seats at the bottom.
The movie was great, just as exciting as the first one. However, I believe those who have read the HP series would enjoy it twice as much as they see what they've read appear on the big screen. I'm looking forward to start reading the HP series this Christmas season.
The magic didn't end yet, arriving at the dorm around 1900 hours and then watching an emmy-nominated Buffy musical episode "Once More, with Feeling", was the Season Finale of the 4th Season of Charmed, "Witch Way Now?". I enjoyed the whole Monday, one day of magic.
Onwards to the West Campus!
PRISAA!!!! Ahhhh. I didn't expect I'd be directed by the HF Sports Editor, Ate July! Eric and I were just in the quiet office logging in when she suddenly barged in and asked us to help her cover the PRISAA (provincial private schools sports competition, a biggie this week in the Sports realm of DLSU-D).
Quickly Eric ran off to PLS and I joined Ate July to the Track and Field (Oval) where I would collect the scores. Classmate Meann (JOU1-1) was there running.
It was one hot morning and we missed Sociology, although according to classmates nothing happened in Sociology other than getting assigned a one-week project by group.
NSTP-CWTSP wasn't to take place at SBC, but instead underneath the still-incomplete Grand Stand behind the Oval. The GDO! A hidden series of classrooms... strange place... like one you would see on a Counterstrike map. Sheesh.
Blood was drawn... I hate blood. I got pricked in the finger just like everyone else did.
And in the evening I joined Ben and Argent to the Gym. Our work out concentrated on Chest and Abs this time. That would be my 2nd time to that gym.
Changing that Registration form!
A full load of classes and I also confirmed dropping my Pagbasa. It would officially be standing outside of our beloved Core JOU1-1 class. Only in Pagbasa classmates, I'll be out for a break or studying for BioSci. Promise.
With the adding and dropping, I got a new registration form. Minus three units, Add three units... no extra payment other than a P25 transfer fee or something. "TRANSFEE 25.00".
Our class president got sick, and in the evening my classmates Upper, Badge, Danielle and I formulated the Broadjourn Dormers' Night out which will be on Wednesday nights. Invited are all dormers in our class, so we'd go out for dinner. We went to FIAT. After dropping Badge to her dorm, Danielle, Upper, best friend Joel, and I went into the campus and Upper suggested we take a spooky walk towards the dorm by going around PCH and the battlegrounds during the dark! Then after that, Joel and Upper combined pushed Danielle and I with them to go behind the SBC/LCDC building in the dark and to exit at the ERS sidewalk.
It was adrenalin and fun, Danielle and Upper cuddled up as we walked in the dark.
Do you know how to swim?
Swimming frenzy! We had a 6 1/2 hour break since Sociology gave way. English at 0700-0830 while PE-Swimming from 1500-1700.
We waited it out at the Batibot and played Truth or Dare like little kids, I got Kate to do the UP Oblation statue for 10 seconds. We proceeded into PLS thirty minutes before our swim class to prepare. We were all excited. It started to rain a little. PRISAA continued inside the main Gymnasium complex.
We got into the Pool grounds and slowly started to get ourselves ready. Slowly we began to bare it all... it was all fun. Moments later many were already in the cozy swimming pool and the sun came out just in time.
We had our first lessons, about floating. I borrowed dorm mate Joseph's swimming cap. I didn't know I probably looked like a floating Condom with it on since the color of his swimming cap was dirty white and it was made of silicon which gave it that shiny look.
I could only GLIDE 1/3 of the way while others could do it 1/2 or 3/4 the way to the end. I think we all got passing marks.
We slowly dried off and I took the camera out for some fun shots. A Unisex shower and a series of stalls in the back was the scene. A unique scene too. You can hear our classmates' voices saying "pass the soap"... "pass the towel"... "wait for me".
After swimming, I went back to the dorms with Tina and then in our dorm complex, I rushed to get ready to go to the gym.
On my 3rd time to the gym, 2nd Year Psych, Ben, is my workout partner since we started almost at the same time. Suddenly, my room mate Lance, Alex of F6, Vince (lance's classmate in PPT1-7, one of 3 new dormers) also of F6, and Joel of F11 also joined us. We were eight people together with the somewhat experts Argent of F8 and Kurt of F11.
We went to the gym and for Ben and I it was time to work on the Back muscles and the triceps, as well as the abs since we did use that machine.
For the first time of the three trips to that gym, I started to sweat heavily on the Hammer Pull-Back machine or whatever they call it. The position we had to use that machine was something I've tried before.
Argent and Kurt went ahead of us since they finished early. Ben and I waited for the other four to finish and then we returned via jeepnee 200 meters away to the main gate of DLSU-D. Since I wanted to watch "The Amazing Race 3" and it was already starting, I gave money to Lance to buy dinner for me from FIAT. I went with Alex and Vince back into the dorms and I joined my third roommate Jan in the room.
I didn't miss anything of the show! Only the "Previously on TAR3" and the "TAR Credits", then a commercial.
Day of the First Quizzes!
All four subjects today had quizzes in them. Although that would be three subjects for me since Pagbasa is out. On Thursday night I ran out of energy and motivation to study for these quizzes, so it was karma on my first quiz of the day.
I walked out after ElemStat during Core JOU1-1's Pagbasa at Pagsulat class and headed into the dorm with some Siomai and Calamansi to see Lance and Jan on the PC.
I found out my bed must be the last place to study during any morning hours. I will instantly melt onto the bed and fall asleep! I was only kept awake by the laughs of Lance and Jan while they played Age of Mythology.
In BioSci, a 10-item quiz followed by a lengthy and confusing discussion about chemical formulas (i know, it's bio, but plant and animal cells was the topic). I can't see how Aldrich, Karl, even G7 Nikki could handle so many of these damned elements and study about them! Ahhhh!
But in fairness, we are all different people pursuing different things. I wish all friends in the Science-related courses out there "Good luck and have fun in your respective fields!".
Anyways, we ate at Brejanah Alley (aside from Brejanah Cafe up front) like old times. Then our with the REED-2 handouts as we studied the references and gospels.
Class took place, a quiz, an interesting Jewish song sung by Barbara Straisand, and a few words of inspiration before Ms. Marianne Planas, owner of a Photocopy shop outside ("Yahweh's Cave") set us free and closed the week for my classmates.
I headed for the dorms with Eric to return to him the Newsweek mag he left with me after swimming yesterday. Then I joined Aldrich and Lance inside F3 to where I began typing on the computer a "BROADJOURN BLOGGERS: A guide for bloggers and future bloggers of broadjourn".
That's when Lance decided to surf at ERS for the 5pm batch and voila we're here at ERS. Dorm mate Aldrich started a blog and so far I've convinced him to post several things already. Lance is tweaking his blog as well.
Again, my week at DLSU-D doesn't technically end until 1100 hours tomorrow morning. But due to lack of time this weekend, I wanted to do this Damage report now. Tomorrow I'm officially in the FILI103 class for foreigners. Poetry, words, and assignments await for three hours tomorrow morning. I go home around 1300 hours tomorrow.
A great week. Physically demanding last Sunday (Abdul in Manila), physically involved last Tuesday and Thursday (gym), physically underwater last Thursday (swimming). PRISAA, we can't forget that too.
Title in Review: "Once more, with feeling" is the title of last monday's emmy-nominated Buffy episode. I guess I couldn't find any other title. One of the original titles was "A touch of magic" but that would only apply for Monday. I guess the title can explain each repetition at the gym... (e.g. "....7....8...9..... one more.... 10....) -LOL. The title works for me this week.
