Carpe Noctem (Seize the Night) - Week #19
"The 2nd Semester of 1st Year College begins!"
I already know it's a little late to post this, but since only a handful of Professors are showing up and still more new and uncharted terrority remain for Wednesday and Thursday, why not I just post something anyway.
VPAPU is out. HF is in full blast. Remember that on my affiliated organizations.
The weekend prior to moving into my dorm was just a weekend spent at home. The only change was a change of doorknob in my room and another security upgrade to the house.
Since my classes this 2nd Semester have changed, so does the schedule. I used to move into my dorm on Monday mornings before INTRO and NSTP which starts at 1pm. But now this semester, my first class on Monday starts at 7am so I move in earlier on Sunday nights.
I packed up a lot. About four times as much as an ordinary move-in to my dorm in La Salle. The small television, the dumbells, my 1st Sem green file basket... everything...
Except my bed! What I mean is... I forgot to pack my pillow, mattress, and blanket. And the weather lately is cold, especially here on this campus which lies on top of a hill in DasmariƱas, Cavite.
Some Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes to Dorm Life already
A lot of my companions have shaved their heads! Lance shaved his head, but wear glasses with it Lance. Joel shaved his head, mukhang D.O. (Discipline Officer)! Basil and Karl from Kuwait who returned from Kuwait last week have shaved their heads...
Jan, my F3 roommate from last semester is still dorming after he did tell everyone he was moving out. He moves in next week.
I moved my stuff in and the dorms were lively again. Life in the dormitory has resumed... that unique feeling of being independent and living in our own rooms returned.
It was nice to see people again. My semestral break was like life on-pause. I didn't achieve anything big last sem break other than buy new clothes. I didn't go to the gym. I didn't accomplish the Broadjourn website...
The guard at the Girls' dorm is more mahigpit (strict). I warned Joel to pull me back if ever I get into a confrontation with a security guard regarding the treatment of Male dormers, especially pacifist ones like me! I could get gruesome with any guard who denies me or delays me access to the telephone, vending machine, hot coffee and hot chocolate machine, or meeting with a female classmate of mine. That activist part of me might return. My rebel instincts in that package as well.
Anyways, the new guard was either really like that or showing it off to the parents of female dormers that were in their cars or walking around assisting their daughters. It was getting dark on Sunday night and still there were cars, jeepnees, and vans lined up on the sides of the road.
I wanted Pizza Hut, and Joel and Lance agreed we'd share a family-size. We decided to use the phone in the lobby. The first call was a failure because 416-1616 was busy. We returned 20 minutes later with the security guard complaining that we used the phone already and his face was like frustrated bull....
If it got worse than that, I would voice out that WE DORM inside La Salle and MUST RECEIVE the same or almost the same privileges the ladies get to dorm facilities such as the phone and vendomachine in the lobby. To the sisters and matrons I will complain. To the Kampusap-Usapan or WHODAS that madness might take me into the HF! Rrrrrrrrrgggg.
No problem afterwards. We ordered our pizza and I was in my room fixing things and unpacking. I got pictures of that too. The hot Pizza arrived quickly and it was the first time I had ordered pizza yet alone had one delivered to us!
The evening came and in the dorms we have about 90% of last sem's dormers moving in. Kurt is in Cebu and arrives Tuesday night. New faces too. Lance's classmate (someone Lance might need if he wishes to pass more often in PT) is moving in. Chope from HS might move in if there's a slot available. Some 2nd Year AB Psychology student (long-live-liberal-arts!!) moved into F2, making it three once again after last sem's episodes with "Dino".
"Dino" is still around by the way.
Some people have moved to different rooms. Joel supposed to be one of them but Jan is staying another sem.
A New Semester, Schedule, and Season
I was excited, i'll have to admit that. I remember vaguely not falling asleep so easily Sunday night. I remember that I had trouble falling asleep, and when I blinked a few times it was already 5:30AM. Unlike lazyness to get up early like at the end of last semester, on Monday morning I headed straight for the shower.
A new semester. A different schedule and new classes. New events, memories, and even crisis with deadlines. No more VPAPU, but now more HF and more articles to work on.
