The Damage Report - End of Week #25
NOTE: this is a post that is made to give a summary of events that has happened at DLSU-D during the finished week.
last "The Damage Report" of 2002.
The Preliminary Term of the 2nd Semester has ended and so has all the studying this year 2002. Here's a review of the past week and a piece about my new College Life in the year 2002.
Preliminaries. The exams summarized into one word would be, smooth. In all subjects with exception to the Sciences, I hopefully got a higher grade than my usual from last semester. The examination this semester is improved, leaving Day 3 and 4 with only one subject each which are Biological Science and General Chemistry respectively.
I would thank the schedule of the exams and my classmates who dorm. We've had a few nights to eat out and review at the E-House.
At the mall. We went to SM City Bacoor on Wednesday after our Elementary Statistics exam where we took a Studio Pic at Great Image. While we waited for the pictures to develop, the group went to Quantum and sang Videoke songs. Eric and Kate sang "Nobody Wants to be Lonely", while Jezire sang "Just Once", and the only sang I tried to sing was "Was It Something I Didn't Say?" by 98 Degrees... Joanna helped me out there. It was another one of those Broadjourn moments... singing Videoke in a loud arcade.
We went around Christmas Shopping, if I may tag it that way. We followed Eric and the others as they went shopping for things to buy. I noticed Eric had gifts lined up for his closest friends in High School. I was thinking along the same lines with him until I was reminded that my closest friends in High School aren't that close to me at the moment.
Later that night I was having trouble reviewing for my Biological Science as my room was loaded with neighbors and a loud television screen playing "Blade II". I wanted to break free so I left the room and accidentally slammed the door too hard. I ended up reviewing in what I call the "Ideal Room to Study in"... noneotherthan F6. The room of Vince, Alex, and Allan.
Classical music. A Piano that Alex or Mark from F1 would play time to time. Vince (who is Lance's classmate) always studying. The ambiance of the room is just amazing. It's so peaceful compared to the start of the hall (F1-F5) and the end of the hall (F8-F11). With Vince studying, and Mark studying there, the place turns out to be the greatest study hall there is in the Men's dorm... to my opinion that is.
Even if I was in a great atmosphere, I still had to complete this BioSci Report on the Seven Obligatory sheesha-shoo-shoo which lasted until 1 o'clock in the morning. I was already about to collapse due to over fatigue so I left the room, with barely any new notes in my head. I entered my empty room. Just my room mates Jan and Lance on their beds long asleep already. The scent wasn't fresh, it smelled like a Cinema Hall... and my Bed a disaster since I scrambled newspapers on it hoping no one would really sit there when the room was crowded.
Eventually not even I could sit or sleep in my own bed correctly. I opened my BioSci "Book of Ching", and fell asleep on top of it as I only had 40% of the bed to myself while the rest was a pile of newspapers, a green basket, and two or three notebooks.
The Sciences. I greatly disliked BioSci. The exam was at 10 o'clock in the morning but I was already up and running around 9:30 at the E-House waiting for Upper or Teenah to arrive. I studied a few notes but couldn't get anything into my head.
After BioSci, you could find what happened here.
The Last night of Party' dorming. Thursday night was different. Lance, Joseph, Karl, and another dorm mate went out for the night for drinking. I didn't go, absolutely NO VICES during the examination period. While they went away, I was with Aldrich as he kept txting and thinking about my classmate that he's so, I guess madly and deeply, into.
The Amazing Race 3 and the first part of it's 2-part season ender. That's what I enjoyed watching. I was still rooting for Ken & Gerard and the two parents, but then again it was just Part 1... so I couldn't finish it. I have to wait till Sunday when it shows on AXN at 1 o'clock in the afternoon.
I studied bit by bit Chemistry and would be found inside F6 again. Ambiant sounds, classical music again, and everyone studying. I made Christmas Notes for my classmates. I couldn't find Christmas Gifts in time (Christmas Gifts = Time + Thought + Money). I barely had time, I had my thoughts on the exams and on dorming, and the money wasn't balanced. I just made customized notes for closer friends in the Classroom.
Last School day of 2002. Chemistry was at 9 o'clock in the morning and I woke up just 30 minutes before the exam, which would be the shortest time between waking up and writing my name on the exam paper this Preliminary. I took a shower, borrowed a Periodic Table from Aldrich, and I was off.
CBA 303 was the destination, the continuation of Broadjourn at the "Tower". I arrived and found my classmates sitting outside the classroom in the big hallways that CBA had. They were reviewing. Ara distributed Christmas Cards in the form of Harry Potter and we soon took the Chemistry test.
After the Chemistry test I found myself outside walking down the steps wishing my classmates didn't go yet. I was around the middle of those who finished. I left CBA 303 with the classroom still half-filled with classmates. I catched up with Teenah, Kats, and Maycee at the steps where we spoke for about 5 minutes.
I distributed my Christmas Notes to them and my hope for the Christmas Outing (formerly known as the Broadjourn X'Mas Party) became another trip to SM. SM Bacoor that is. SM Bacoor?! ...again?!
I was upset already that the X'Mas Party itself was cancelled. Than the outing to Glorietta or Festival Mall was just a joke by Jezire. So my hopes for a Christmas Gathering simmered depressingly low. SM City Bacoor again like on Wednesday?
I remembered what I typed in an entry this past week about this event. "As long as we are together, that's what counts."
After stopping by my dorm so I could change into Civilian, we landed at 7-11 to wait for Badge and William. After everyone was set, we travelled towards SM City Bacoor which would make it the 2nd time in a week.
Christmas Party turned Outing turned Visit to SM. We ate at Wendy's this time and we had a conflict on where we were to get our pictures at. We went to all the photoshops and still nothing could beat the deals at Great Image.
The 2nd Studio Pic in a week, this time with 12 people. 10 of us from commuting earlier, add Wilda whom we met at the mall and her cousin. While waiting for the pictures, we once again went to Quantum. We encountered COM1-2 according to Badge, I only familiarized some dude with long hair but that was all. I heard they played DDR (i'm having a flashback of "Hot in Herrr", what COM1-2 performed next to JOU1-1's "I'm a Slave 4 U").
I didn't sing this time, I didn't want to. But I enjoyed listening and watching Ate Angge, William, Jezire, and Badge sing as well as the others. I did, however, play racing games with Joanna and Ate Angge. Joanna and I played against each other in that Ice Hockey-puck game. George/Shiela vs. Joanna/William.
We left the arcade and there was a portion of hugging and saying "Bye" and "Merry Christmas" to each other. We seperated into two groups. By DasmariƱas it was William, Ate Angge, and myself. We got off in front of the Main Gate of La Salle, it was night time. We wished Ate Angge a "Merry Christmas" and watched her as she transferred into an AREA F jeepnee.
William went to DLSU-D to join the "All for the love of thee" Christmas Party, which he would later find out is taking place at Sir Ariel's Place (the director or assistant director's place). Half-way down the Acacia Avenue I encountered Joel and JP who were going to eat out.
I joined Joel and JP and I had a take-out at Fiat, and we said our greetings of Christmas there. We went to 7-11 for JP and Joel's snacks, and we slowly entered the school.
One Lonely Night. I had major cleaning and packing up to do at the same time I was just too tired. The school was extremely quiet. Not even the Christmas Lights of the Chapel were on. 94% of the Men's Dorm was empty, would be the statistic. To say it specifically, only two of us remained. JP and myself.
Joel went home like the breeze and Tom left around 11 o'clock in the evening.
JP and I were in my room watching television the rest of the night. Part 1 of a three-part Season Finale of SURVIVOR V: THAILAND, then the ABS-CBN CHRISTMAS SPECIAL 2002 "Isang Familya, Isang Puso, Isang Pasko". We watched that and JP fell asleep. I fell asleep as well.
It came upon the midnight clear,
a night before a starting day,
a starting day before new life,
a new life that breathes renewal
That night before my College began
I lay in my bed, thinking of who I was that day
Who I would be the day after
Who I wanted to be after it was all done
Many nights and many midnights,
Have already gone, have already finished
Each one I would be found busy
Sleeping, talking, and enjoying this life.
Never before I've felt this way
So Free, so Loose, so unbelievably Happy
A Christmas Song: "It came upon the midnight clear"
It came upon the midnight clear, that glorious song of old
From angels bending near the earth to touch their harps of gold
Peace on the earth, goodwill to men, from heav'n's all gracious king
The world in solemn stillness lay to hear the angels sing.
Still through the cloven skies they come with peaceful wings unfurl
And still their heavenly music floats, O'er all the weary world.
Above its sad and lowly plains they bend on hovering wing
And ever o'er its Babel sounds the blessed angels sing.
O ye, beneath life's crushing load, whose forms are bending low
Who toil along the climbing way with painful steps and slow
Look now for glad and golden hours come swiftly on the wing
O rest beside the weary road and hear the angels sing.
For lo the days are hastening on, by prophets seen of old
When with the ever circling years shall come the time foretold
When the new heaven and earth shall own the prince of peace their King
And the whole world send back the song which now the angels sing.
So happy and so thankful for where I was
Who I was and What I was
Pictures, Newspapers
Movies, Television Shows
Production, the Media
This challanging yet extraordinary path
Came upon these midnights clear.
A path leading to our dream, my dream
Our hopeful careers and my chosen career
Merry Christmas Broadjourn!
Saturday morning. I woke up and was too comfortable under a warm blanket to move around and start fixing the room up before I get picked up. I wanted to clean the kitchen area but I didn't have a sponge with me. My cellphone went low-bat, and for the past two weeks it's like trying to start a fire using sticks just to get that cellphone to turn on (it's broken inside, and I didn't even drop it).
Eventually the room was tidy enough and my belongings were set. We were off to Robinsons Imus so my brother could buy a new cellphone. It wasn't a pleasant ride anywhere. Traffic, the December heat (if there is such a thing), and a crowded mall. Plus a crying baby that our driver brought with him since his wife just gave birth to a 2nd child (Congratulations!) and the 1st child would be all alone.
Paul bought a NOKIA 5210, and both of us got the SMART SUPERSIM 64k. I had to go to several stores to look for an ideal cellphone number. I got the Sim, but my cellphone isn't working still. So I'm not giving away the number yet, because I have this systematic plan on announcing it so it'll be easier. Until then, my number is still 0918-561-6820.
We arrived home and I noticed the new curtains that mom had tailor'd. They're not so bad afterall. It makes the construction for the ceiling more exciting because these new curtains really look like they belong in a big house.
One week of exams has ended. Christmas break begins.
Title in Review: "It came upon the midnight clear" is a Christmas Song. I used it to symbolize that this past week I did not sleep before Midnight. I sacrificed 1/4 of my average amount of sleeping time for studying before the exam. All midnights this past week have been fairly clear and breezy. Quiet outside of the dorm rooms and in the halls. And what came upon the midnight clear itself? Not just the song... but answers. Answers that help me make me live a better day later on.
