The Damage Report - End of Week #23
NOTE: this is a post that is made to give a summary of events that has happened at DLSU-D during the finished week.
The fifth week of the 2nd Semester ends a bit aloof. I'm at ERS right now with co-bratz (Military Bratz, children of the US Armed Forces) namely Aldrich and Lance.
Basically there was no class on Saturday for us. Ms. Encabo said we'd just resume with our Preliminary in January.

All for the love of thee!
After the first class of the week ended a bit early, it released Broadjourn into the Acacia avenues which were loaded with buses. In fact, from Monday to Friday the East Campus would have buses lined up everywhere for round trips to and from De La Salle Zobel.
We had a problem on getting a bus. We were there in front of the Chapel waiting, however, when the buses came we didn't get one. I was burning with outrage as Broadjourn under umbrellas scrambled bus to bus finding one. Two big buses belonged to the first year AB Comm, and we were rejected by whoever was supervising those buses. Broadjourn was abandoned by Mr. Tolentino (former professor in Literature last semester, AB Comm Faculty) for a while and we were lost. Then Mr. Tolentino returned to find us a bus.
The feeling was absolute rejection. Like the school didn't plan out it's bus assignments. We didn't have a bus! We had to walk down the line of buses up until the front of ERH.
Anyways we got on board and Kuya Rheyan was my seat mate. The trip was almost two hours which brought us across the fields of Paliparan and so on. We entered Las Piñas, Metro Manila and soon into Alabang. A nice estate was there and Zobel was inside of it. The homes inside this estate reminded me of the states. Wide open lawns, side walks, wide roads, lots of trees.
We arrived at DLS-Zobel and had to wait almost another entire hour till we could get inside. This would be the 2nd show on the first day and my classmate William Eusores wouldn't be playing his major role since he was an alternate. And another thing, Broadjourn was sliced in half and placed on two sides of the theater! It was a disaster and lowered our way of watching the show. We didn't have options! We had to be fully escorted to our seats without argument. The House staff had total control over the students, and it didn't feel like we were treated like guests.
The play had problems. I personally didn't like how the story was played out. "All for the love of thee" would be much more enjoyable if it had more feeling and laughing into it. It was just too plain a musical. I have no problem though with the actors and actresses, the air-gaps which felt non-existent anyways. The sound system was perhaps the biggest problem. We couldn't hear the voices at times and only heard the music. Then it might be reversed.
We saw William as St. Nicolas (his alternate role) and some classmates saw Arjay (Teatro, Production Assistant for this production) in the background setting things up in the dark. I did see VPAPU, I did see Ms. Parohinog. And like always, like always, and like always... that feeling on how I could be working with them. But now, I'm just another face in the audience of the performers.
The performance finished and we waited for a bus for another amount of time. This bus would turn out to become a Freezer by the time we got to La Salle. People would also decrease along the way. Mr. Tolentino was with us, and SCREAM III was on the television screens so Emil could exaggerate the brutalities by his screaming. An enjoyable ride back to La Salle, but it was soooooo cold on that bus. When we got off and when we looked up at the bus as it rode down in front of OSH at night, it was really a Freezer.
That called for Broadjourn Dormers night out again and I enjoyed a bowl of hot sinigang at Fiat. (see this event from the perspective of Ate Angge)
Bgy. Bautista once again!
In Sociology we had a substitute professor while Mrs. Aguilar is on Maternal Leave.
In NSTP I didn't expect (again) that we'd be going off into Bgy. Bautista. I've barely set my Family Care Plan, in fact it's no where near finished.
We travelled to Bgy. Bautista and once again Jhen wasn't with us along with the rest of the PAG peeps. So I had to conduct my interview with my family alone, for the 2nd week in a row.
I conducted a fair interview and later enjoyed some litik with Shiela, Ate Angge, and them. The litik tasted good and the group of Broadjourn consumed nearly half of the medium-sized platter.
Suddenly Joanna was somehow stalked by some drunk guy wearing blue. It was scary. She was trying to hide behind students while that guy approached and peered into the group looking for her. He was drunk though, and we could understand that. But it scared me too and made me all defensive inside just in case something happened. (see this event from the perspective of Ate Angge)
Layouts at the Heraldo Filipino!
Wash day again. By this time I had submitted two articles to the Christmas edition of the Lasalleño and I had found out for sure that two of my news articles will be published in the Broadsheet. Maycee also has several articles (over four i believe) but I don't want to enumerate because she specifically told me not too, you'll learn why in two weeks. Eric has some for the Features, including one in the Decreto again but this time it's his turn to write about the AGS lately. (which still happens to be the biggest news this year)
On Wednesday night, instead of the Broadjourn Dormers' night out I had to just eat a brief "Layout Dinner" at the HF Office and begin editing the papers. I was there until the office closed and the EBs and staff and fellow apprentice writers walked together out towards the gate and I entered my dorm room.
It was on this day that I noted Christmas trees sprouting across campus. In front of JFH, OSH, the CHAPEL, everywhere I turned a Christmas tree was there. That gave title to my offline journal on that Wednesday and is also an influencial event to the title of this week's "The Damage Report".
I COMPLETED ONE LAP IN SWIMMING!
That had got to be one heck of a day! I started this semester not knowing how to swim, and it was on last Thursday that even if i hadn't mastered the techniques yet... I remained afloat and moving from one side to the other side of the pool (not the length, the width of it since that's the allowed area only). It was a personal and physical achievement!! I'm so encouraged to swim now and keep learning techniques.
Anyways, I was fully armed that day. A Padlock and blue goggles from Joel. A temporary swim cap that I bought through Jerson. Swimming trunks and all. It was all set. I did forget my Registration Form which is required at the entrance of the pool, but the guard who is familiar with me through dorming here let me in.
So I started swimming like crazy, too much excitement, too many new gears compared to being "only in trunks" the week before. Eventually I started going with the lesson and just started to swim and try my best to stay afloat and keep moving. Somehow the next thing I realize was me looking at what's in front of me while I swam and it was the wall on the other end! At that moment I was so immensely surprised that I started to laugh, smile, and kick faster in the water which resulted in a mild cramp on my left foot.
After swimming I returned to the dorms area. Like on Wednesday night, the Lake Park area was filled with concerts, bands, and students. I love that lively atmosphere. On Wednesday it was for the CBA which featured dorm mates Joam as a guitarist in a band from Business Management 1-1 while Argent as one of the models. Argent is the classmate of high school batchmate Patricia Papa. She was there according to Argent.
On Thursday night though it was for the College of Science (COS) and it was entitled "Synthesize". It was twice as lively as the CBA iBIZa, however I spent the whole time from swimming till the silence of the night (about 4 1/2 hours) playing ZEUS inside of F6. Call me addicted!
After playing I went to my room where Joel, Aldrich joined Lance and I in the room over night.
Dorming FilAmz go to SM Megamall!
This day was different. Talk about EXPOSURE to a different feeling, a different lifestyle, and a different group. It's explained in my other post reporting about this tremendous day. Click HERE.
Class is Cancelled
That brings me back to today. Class was cancelled this morning and the three kuwaiti guys (Brian, Basil, and Karl) went to Makati while the three M-Bratz (Lance, Aldrich, and myself) were left in the dormitory. I left Lance and Aldrich and with my mom and driver we stopped by Robinsons Place Imus to load up on groceries.
At home I watched part of STAR WARS: EPISODE II: ATTACK OF THE CLONES and then a new episode of 7th Heaven when the Minister and the Rabbi get into a fight about their children's marriage while on Boston Public, I'm beginning to like the show with it's storyline. In the episode earlier it was about Mr. Lipchitz getting fooled when someone puts crushed Ecstacy into his Coffee. In the evening it was "The Prince of Egypt" at the same time "Miss World 2002" which we watched and which closed the night.

An enjoyable 4-day week and a unique new experience during Ramadan.
Title in Review: Christmas trees are sprouting all around. Everywhere I go I will usually encounter one. From the weird recycled-goods looking tree in front of still-in-expansion-construction JFH to the one inside SM Megamall over the railing in front of KFC during Aldrich's moments of waiting. I couldn't think of any other song or any kind of phrase or line that would suit this past week best. I was going for Missy Elliott's "Work it" but that's just the music of lately not the words of lately. Anyways... Oh christmas tree oh christmas tree!
