My thoughts on the Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy

First of all, the NASA Control Room or Center are just sitting in their chairs. I can't tell if they are over disciplined by researching for what went wrong OR if they're just too shocked to make any big movements. The most serious NASA tragedy since the 1986 Challenger explosion has just happened while I was watching Face/Off on Studio 23 Presents earlier this evening. I was all into the thrilling action scenes when suddenly my eyes saw on the Yahoo! Front Page that a Space Shuttle had crashed. I clicked on the article and it was made "6 minutes ago". I instantly grabbed the remote and switched from Studio 23 to CNN.

Breaking News. NASA Space Shuttle Columbia crashes in north central Texas. Same footage of some white thing in the air bursting into three different parts and streaming across the early morning sky over Texas.

I paused in shock and felt that same feeling when Bryan was with me in my room on the evening of September 11th. That feeling of shock and that urge to find out more about it.

Anyways, it is a tragic thing for that Israeli guy Llan Ramon. The first Israeli in space, tragically dies in a NASA landing. 16 days of successful Scientific experiments for a few middle schools and a bunch of other space organizations across the world. Next event: Seven perish as they are slammed into Earth's atmosphere at six times the speed of sound. Ouch.

They say it's the shuttle which holds the title of being the oldest shuttle in NASA's shuttle program fleet. 22 years old, that thing only had less than 30 missions up into orbit. When according to what I've heard, they're designed to withstand a hundred missions into orbit. Is it age? Is it terrorism? Or something else? An accident?

Well whatever it is, hats down as we listen to T.A.P.S., lower the flags of the United States and Israel.
