To Makati at Night Time

We just got back from Makati. I had no idea that Fort Bonifacio was in Makati. Woops. We passed by territory that easily made me reminisce the Baguio Trip and Joel's apartment inside the base itself there.

We left the house half past 6 o'clock in the evening. It's the latest we've ever left the house to go somewhere in Metro Manila. I agreed that we continue to Makati tonight because I wanted to break free from the house and feel the wind on my face on Coastal Hi-Way under the Orange Hi-Way Lights.

We went all the way to Makati and met with these two women who were going to lead us to the dealer who will be introducing us to a second-hand green CR-V Model 2002 for P600,000. It felt weird travelling so far into Metro Manila in the early evening just to look at a second-hand CR-V... and only looking at one vehicle.

We got there and everything was almost true except for it's Model year. It was a 1998 Model and it's price was P680,000. My mom and her cousin Kuya Henry were nearly petrified. A model that is five years old, second-hand, at P680,000?! That's outrageous!! You can get a brand new CR-V for a minimum of P850,000... and that's a Model 2003... compared to a second-hand 1998 at P680,000?!

It felt weird. When we found out it was a 1998 model, we were suddenly "huh, we went all the way deep into Metro Manila just to look at this?". Well, um, by my impressions the vehicle looked okay. (well of course, they cleaned it for presentation). But overall, it did look brand new. They showed us the engine and it looked okay. Of course, I didn't want to buy the one we were looking at... but I was absorbing as much facts as I can get about a 1998 Model so I can use it in comparison to our future observations.

CAR HUNTING - RESULT #01
Type: Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV)
Made: Honda
Model: Second-hand CR-V (Model 1998)
Color: Forest Green
Price: P680,000
License Plate: WBN 716 from Honda Kalookan
Visited: May 1st 2003, 8:45pm, at a Caltex Station in Makati
Notes: It was presented well, and they offered us to test drive it even if they knew we weren't interested after we found out about the price and age of the vehicle. A guy wearing glasses was the one on stand-by, perhaps the owner of the vehicle. An older man was the dealer, surname is Aguinaldo and he's from Kawit, Cavite. Two ladies that my Kuya Henry knew led us to this dealer. It was the first time I had a chance to look inside of a CR-V. I love the spacious back area where we can put hiking bags and other sorts into. The backseats and the front were perfect. A nice stereo system was also there. What this one lacked (even if it was the first one I've seen) was the "computerized" features of the CR-V I've been hearing about in recent models.

I'm still looking for a better CR-V. I'm going for Models 2001 and above. My mom dislikes where the stick is for the Automatic in these CR-Vs. I was surprised too. It's behind the wheel! Heheh. I'm okay for a Manual or Automatic, but my mom insists she wants the new car to be an automatic so she can drive it.

Why a CR-V? I'm going for comfort and space. A car involves you having to bend over just to get into one... and a van is too big especially on those tiny streets in my parents' home barangay. So, a CR-V or an SUV is a perfect one.

My Kuya Henry has also spotted a Revo SR-J... complete in features including a television screen... and it's a second-hand found in DasmariƱas, Cavite. It's color is black and it's price is P600,000. But when we were talking to this guy in Makati, he said that's very cheap for a second-hand so we should double check. I have no idea how a Revo SR-J looks like... so we're going to look at one sometime next week. My parents don't want a black car because "out of all the wonderful colors in the world...".
