My Dad has Returned

He surprised us all when he arrived last Sunday lunchtime, just four hours after I left the house to join the HF delegation to Ilocus Sur for the CEGP's 63rd National Student Press Convention. The first time I saw him after eleven months was on Friday 3AM when he picked me up in front of the lonely facace of SM City Bacoor.

Anyways, with him was the Olympus C-300 Digital Camera that he bought for me a few months ago. Ever since I got back, I've been using it and testing out it's controls and features. It's quite the camera! My first Digital Camera. Cool. But since I don't have my own webspace yet, plans of showcasing these to everyone isn't exactly my priority right now.

When he arrived, he took my brother and my mom to Duty Free (48-hour limit) and they shopped for foreign goods. The candies I enjoyed as a kid (Fruit Roll-ups, Vanilla Wafers, etc.) and the fruit juices I loved as a kid (Hawaiian Punch) are what they bought. Paul also txt'd me (while I was in transit on an AC bus somewhere passing through Pampanga) that I have a "surprise".

A Nokia 7250 perhaps? That's the only thing that would surprise me. Maybe they found a nicely priced 7250 at Duty Free. I didn't ask my brother what it was because I wanted it to be a "surprise". I came home Friday 4AM to enter my room and find a silver flat-screen Philips "21 in place of that old black Sony "27 tv from back in 1984. A new TV-set?! I was really caught by surprise!!

With that they bought a matching Philips DVD player, but that's for the family.

They also picked out the tiles last Friday from some place in Metro Manila. My dad decided we shouldn't spend so much on those granite tiles for the living room and dining room which amount to over P200,000. Instead, like what I've always suggested, we use normal tiles. We should just find bigger sized ones with a great design and some quality, and voila... and that's what happened. We won't be spending that much on the tiles, trip that price down by 75%.

The new savings generated from the tiles will go to developing both terraces and installing a sliding door on the lawn terrace. Of course, with some boost in savings... we might be looking at paying in installments for a brand new CR-V Model 2003 since all the second hand ones are old and expensive (Model 2000 for P700,000 when a new Model 2003 with warranty for P990,000 and in installments is allowed).

I'm glad he arrived here safely. It's surprising how many changes are already happening. I'm going to prepare for 2nd Year College soon. I have so many articles to work on right now. And the Year-End Seminar of the HF is still looking for its place this week. It's crazy and I don't know how'll I survive the last week of Summer. Arrrg. I need to stay home. Work with the Digicam, work with the blog, work on Project BJ6, work on the articles.
