REQUIREMENTS, REPLAYS AND ALL
Carpe Noctem (Seize the Night) - Year 2 - Starting Week #17
Background Music:
"Fighting Temptation" by Missy Elliott and Beyonce

NOTE: This is a weekly blog entry that is posted at the start of the week prior to moving into my dormitory.

WHAT if one morning you wake up two years into the future? How would you react? What would you do? Would you slide into whatever is going on at that time or frantically scramble on finding your way back to what you knew was the present-time?

Some type of Alarm clock was ringing and it woke me up. It was still pitch black in the dorm room. I was expecting the alarm clock to be coming from Kyle's study table since it was on that side of the room. I got up, felt a bit heavier, then slightly dizzy... like some type of hangover was on me. Suddenly the alarm stopped ringing. Kyle had turned it off.

Wait, he turned on a lamp and I saw someone else. I didn't know this person! With the dim light hitting the room, I noticed I wasn't in F3 anymore. I was in F5 with two dorm mates. Where's Sherwin, Mik, and Aldrich?

I headed over to this cellphone on my desk, it was a Nokia 7250 and it was looking worn down. I opened up my Inbox hoping to find answers... only to find the biggest surprise. I had messages saved from:

Kate JOU41 - a quote
Badge JOU41 - a quote
Eric JOU41 - he's saying something about a staff meeting in HF
Melanie HF - she's asking when's her article is due
Matthew HF - a quote
James JOU32 - asking for Abbie's number
Judy COM41 - a message about their theater production
Tom HF - congratulations daw
Lance - a quote dating back to 05-May-2005
Tropz Len - she's asking to borrow my tape recorder
Tropz Abbie - a quote

I was in complete shock the moment I saw "JOU41". I dug through some papers on the table and found a fresh issue of the Heraldo Filipino. It was Volume 20 Issue 2 and the banner read "JFH Scandal finally solved". I turned into an exclamation point.

I finally saw my schedule and I had no classes on that day. Still, I was so confused I stepped outside into the hallway. I was feeling really dizzy. I was badly looking for Lance. I decided to txt Lance where he was. I didn't get a reply. I txt'd any familiars on my phone. I txtd Badge and asked where she was at. I txtd Eric if he was going to the office that day.

Suddenly a familiar face was leaving one of the rooms down the hall. It was Joseph Bathan, shorter hair but looking much older. We did the greet and he walked down the hall in uniform.

I decided to scroll down the F-building looking at the doors or the people there for anyone familiar.

As I passed by F9, someone called my name and I turned around. This guy came out of F8 to hand me a folder.

"Thanks George. That's the script, please review it. May practice kami mamaya sa Museo grounds." he says.

I just take it, not knowing his name.

Suddenly I receive a txt message. It's from Abbie. She's telling me that she's already at the E-House. I felt relieved. I was now about to meet someone I can ask questions.

Good thing my future self still labels his shampoo with his name! I took a shower and looked at myself in the mirror. I actually smiled, despite all the confusion... I looked a bit better. More mature... I had bangs and slightly longer hair than what I remembered. This must all be a dream.

The cabinets in the room were still labeled, this time with Red paper. I knew which one was mine. I opened my cabinet to find all these clothes I couldn't recognize. I decided to put on a uniform.

I went down the hall an as I passed by F4, the names there were different. And as I passed by my real room of F3, it was occupied by Basil, Fahad, and some guy named Justin.

I was looking for the desk that was supposed to be next to F1, instead it was all the way down the sidewalk near the E-House already. The Men's dorm has been expanded, I guess. I walked down the sidewalk, still anticipating that someone I knew would see me and call me. I badly wanted an NC14 person to appear. I was approaching the E-House and their were a bunch of girls there. And if it was supposed to be September 2005, I don't know how Abbie looked like.

Suddenly her familiar voice called out my name... her hair was also shorter.

"Abbie... oh thank God..." I cried out almost. She looked stunned at my reaction. I noticed her ID was shiny and new so I just looked at it. "AB Broadcast Journalism". She shifted!

Before I could ask her what my condition was... she spoke.

"So what are you going to do about it George..." she asks me.
"Do about what?" I replied in slight panic.
"Abbie... I have no idea what's happening. I can't remember what's happened to me in the past two years. The last thing I remember was falling asleep after talking to Lance, Tony, and Alex in my room--- F3 last night. I was practicing my Speech at the same time making my Powerpoint presentation." I said.
"2 years ago?" she says, and I noticed she had this tone as if she was mad at me.
"It seems to be 2 years ago... the phone I had then was a 3210."
"What's wrong with you George?!" Abbie says.

That would be a total nightmare. Falling asleep and waking up in the future, clueless. I didn't have a dream like that, but I just thought about what would happen if it did happen... gets?

This is the last week before the Finals exam and we'll be squeezing in all the requirements for all the subjects. I'm extremely nervous about the next two weeks because it's make it or break it and I say that seriously.

Just like one year ago (see Carpe Noctem Year 1 Week #17 "A Variety Show and a Seminar") where we staged a Variety Show at Manuelaville for our requirement in Literature of the Philippines, this year (specifically this Friday) we'll be re-staging Tatarin with added scenes and also a Variety Show at the Alumni Hall 2nd Floor. This serves as a requirement in Art Appreciation.

My Requirements:
Speech Choir in Speech and Oral Comm
Final Speech in Speech and Oral Comm
Theory creation in Comm Theory
Debate in Retorika
Recitation in Constitution
Powerpoint Presentation in Basic Comp
Outreach Program in Reed103: Church
Variety Show/Re-staged Tatarin in Art Appreciation

Here now are the four pillars of my college life:

Academics/JOU2-1. (96% share) All my focus in the next two weeks will fall on Academics. There is just so much requirements at this point. It feels so heavy on the chest. (see above)

Heraldo Filipino. (3% share) If I could file for a 2-week Leave of Absence from the Heraldo Filipino, now would be the time if it's not too late. I can't work right now for the HF. Layouting for LS1 and BS3 is this week. Good luck to those working on it. I simply can't. I'm sorry.

AB Comm Channel. (1% share) There's no news here.

Dormitory/Tropa. I hope the integrity of the dorm and the tropa remains strong during the Finals. The dorm is still alright and the tropa is okay. Maybe one giant dinner at KFC would do it for the Finals term. I will be pressuring everyone to study hard this Finals.
