From San Mateo in Rizal to SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City
Maybe that didn't sound right.
But that's exactly how we were today. Aldrich and Kevin, my friends in the dormitories, joined me and my mom in going all the way to San Mateo at the border of Rizal Province and Marikina City of Metro Manila. It was a long drive there. We picked up Aldrich and Kevin in front of SM Bacoor.
On the way we noticed the strangest things as we got further from Cavite. In Rizal, they have pink and yellow garbage and construction trucks. The ambulances in that area were orange and yellow. There was a strange "Purple Castle" on the side of the road. The jeepnees were a bit larger and the passenger entrance looked similar to a jail cell's doorway. There were these buses there that resembled the one in the famous book "The Magic School Bus" from the US. It was just crazy!
I think there's just this sarcastic chemistry when you put me, Kevin, and Aldrich together. Our jokes went from the simple, to the flattering, to the green-minded. Anyone at Heraldo Filipino would be surprised if they saw this part of me that is just filled with so many jokes! Haha.
My cousin's son, Ernest, who is helping around our house threw up into a plastic bag inside our CR-V since he was seated in the "horrifying" backseat. I felt sorry for him. We aren't even close, and I could see how dizzy he felt but just kept on going as if nothing happened. Define tolerance!

Lunch in another province
It was my second time to visit my Uncle Banny's (mom's younger brother) house in San Mateo, Rizal. My whole family is from Tanza, Cavite (both sides) but my Uncle Banny lives and works in Spain and his house in the Philippines is away from all the telesine sets in Tanza. He is here from Spain on a vacation with his wife (Auntie) Rema and their daughter Giovanna. Auntie Rema is just so accomodating. She always carries this smile and projects this warmth when she speaks to us. I'm not that close to my relatives these days, and even if she wasn't my blood relative- I can almost consider her to be my favorite Auntie at the moment.

I didn't get to see my cousins on my mom's side. Those relatives of mine used to be close and friendly with me, but after the whole chaotic family thing and the issues of the past few two to three years... that bond between cousins is non-existent. I remember this one time I attended this wedding in Naic, Cavite over two years ago when they were intentionally pushing the chapel bench I was sitting on forward so it would make my seating area cramped up and small. That was just so fucking pathetic. After that experience, I've become snubbish and I've kept my chin up. There's just this "sense of elite" when I'm near them. They're irritating. Why are they letting the affairs of our parents interfere with our relations? I didn't at the start! And yes, you can call me masungit!
Anyways, any negativity in visiting San Mateo was just as non-existent as the relationship between me and those cousins. I enjoyed the trip! I'm glad I brought Kevin and Aldrich along. Aldrich started to sweat and he couldn't lie back in his nice blue Penshoppe polo, so Kevin and I mocked him until we found ourselves in the CR-V just to get some air conditon.
And speaking of air condition, we went to SM Megamall afterwards so my mom could buy a hot and cold water dispenser which comes with a free air condition (it's a raffle promo where my Auntie Rema can get a deal for my mom for a nice new air condition).
Not minding the crowds at SM Megamall
Another hours' trip away from San Mateo to Mandaluyong City where we arrived at a congested Megamall on a Saturday. I saw so many possible clothes I wanted to buy at Penshoppe, Bench, Tribal, Anonomous, Oxygen... you name it... but we just watched a movie "DEATH CURSE" at the cinemas.

At first, Aldrich really wanted to watch "OCHO-OCHO: Pa-mela-mela Wan" but Kevin and I opted for a scary movie. I already watched "THE GRUDGE 2" so that left only "DEATH CURSE" as our choice. Kevin also commented it was scarier than "RINGU" so I got excited.
We watched the movie and yes, it was scary. Well, maybe not that long-lasting scary... but it was one of the "nakakagulat" type of movies. The concept was so interesting at first, but later on it started to mix with a bit of Thai comedy that we couldn't really understand through words... the comical music at some points made the movie quite strange. Yes, it was scary... but then at the very end of the movie it all wraps up leaving us saying "Oh... that's it."
In comparison to THE GRUDGE 2 which I watched last Monday with Kate, Tom, and Leah... DEATH CURSE was more about the struggle of a family who aren't close to each other. There are brutal parts, scary parts, and funny parts like I couldn't forget the line: "I saw a monster dragging a ghost!" ... which totally didn't make sense but the translation was correct.
THE GRUDGE 2 has a more artsy approach and it does leave a lasting scare even after you watch the movie. DEATH CURSE has numerous scary points and at first a very interesting storyline, but in the end it was all because of a family feud.
Well, as long as my heartbeat accelerated a few times... I'm satisfied.

We went and got a Studio Picture and then we ate at Rai Rai Ken's Ramen House. We felt like eating something with chopsticks after this one part in DEATH CURSE where the lead character was enjoying a bowl of tasty noodles [it wasn't a scary part].

Suddenly it was already past 9 o'clock and the mall closed! I thought it would close at ten, because we haven't had time to go shopping at the stores yet! We just swung by a few of them and said we'll return to it after we have our picture and eat. My mom, my cousin Ate Myra, and our driver Kuya Jhong who just returned from Cebu yesterday were waiting outside.

We ate and the summary of what the three of us consumed was just short of Php 1,000! I spent Php 273.90 on these Ramen noodles (Syozu), Ebi Maki (Shrimp sushi), and Ice Green Tea (herbal iced tea).
During our whole stay at the mall, we just kept cracking jokes as we walked on anything we saw that was worth cracking a joke about. There were times I was just so hyped up that I started singing songs while walking. There were two times wherein I laughed in a burst that was really loud anyone in the vicinity could hear.
I guess, even if I didn't buy anything, having a good time without thinking about anything huge or important was just relaxing. It was fun. Thanks Aldrich and Kevin, I hope you guys enjoyed the trip too.
We went home afterwards. Aldrich and Kevin got off at the crossing of the Aguinaldo Highway and the road leading towards the Bayan Proper of Bacoor.
