IRON PLATES, CHOCOLATE ELIXIRS, AND SPORTY GLASSES

I went to the gym last Thursday, making it the first trip there for the summer and hopefully the rest of the year. I was with Joam, my former dorm mate inside La Salle. When we got there, I ran into Pong... who is the husband of one of my classmates. I didn't know he had won a bodybuilding contest and placed 5th in Cavite and the only one from DasmariƱas. Woah.

D'Gym was the place I went to during my freshmen year college, but only for what, two weeks?! This time my determination is just soaring. I know I'm turning 19 this year and I'm dying to have the last laugh when people look at me as the jaded journalism student who has nothing but partying and extracurriculars to hold on to. What I'm saying is, I'm trying to proove to myself that I'm not what they literally picture me as.

Anyways, D'Gym is now located along Congressional Avenue and is walking distance to Hubsite. I rode with Joam on his scooter and when we got to the gym he re-introduced me to the gym equipments.

It felt good to finally be back and hopefully it's for good now. No, it is for good! Either this gym or the gym that my room mate Andrew goes to, I want to make sure this is a routine and a habit for me now.

I've decided to go strength training first which means more reps with moderate weights. I haven't been the gym in ages, so going for 50 lbs and above on almost anything is a bit impossible for me right now. I especially had trouble working on the upper chest press... even at 20 lbs I couldn't get my arms up! The shape of the equipment was just new to me.

Joam and I ate at Jatayna's near UMC. It has an underground level which I never knew about. It was fun riding with him on the scooter. Feeling the summer wind slap your face and being exposed to the streets with the many jeeps, buses, and cars was just exciting.

Back at the dorm, I've prepared several servings of Enervon HP or what I like to call now as my chocolate elixir. I've also been trying to drink plenty of water.

A mini-gym at home

This past weekend I got home to find the Home Gym in the terrace. The people from Sportshouse at SM Bacoor finally delivered it. I used it twice this weekend. Yesterday, I tested out the possible exercises with the home gym. Then this afternoon before church I did a follow-up to yesterday's work out.

So far the Home Gym is working out great. I'm still researching on exercises for the biceps and abs. Tricep exercises are great. It has a leg curl. Back and Shoulders are working out fine. I'm measuring the weights and the reps and sets to work with. Hopefully this week I can increase the pounds on some exercises and intensify things a bit.

The treadmill is alright. I wanted a treadmill that is automatic and keeps going. But the one we have is manual... because it doesn't move until you run. It sort of makes you lazy! But the treadmill is what I use as a warmup.

I still can't believe my mom really bought these things for us.

Magic Pair of Glasses

And finally, my new glasses came in! We picked them up from SM Bacoor last Friday night. It's an Oakley prescription glasses. The frame is sleek and is dark blue. It's a bit larger from my previous glasses (with the silver frame) but I like it because it looks more sporty. The lens were customized into "Transitions"... which is perhaps the feature I'm so obsessed about! Hahaha. When you're indoors, the lens are crisp and clear. When you're in the sunny outdoors, the lens are still crisp and clear but gradually become tinted light gray. Magic glasses! Hahahaha.

This upcoming week will be the first week wearing these new glasses. I have a feeling a lot of people will have to start getting used to me wearing bigger glasses. But I love these new glasses. It's so... cool and sleek. Hehe.

I have a picture of me trying it on, but again, I left my USB port at the HF office. Next week I'll provide pictures. Lots of pictures of me wearing my new glasses and the home gym at the terrace of our house.
