THE DISPARITY OF UNITY
The Damage Report - Year 3 - Ending Week #14
Background Music:
"Someone to Die For" by Brian May/Jimmy Gnecco

NOTE: This is a weekly blog entry that summarizes a series of events of a finished week in and around La Salle.

THE INTENSITY of things have gone up this past week. Some parts have been traumatic while others more memorable. But one thing's for sure and it goes to the lyrics "and everybody's changing and I don't know why..."

The big split

My block section which is the life, the pillar of stability, and core energy for me has just been split. Pre-registration on Tuesday confirmed my speculation that next semester we will be in two block sections rather than one because of the growing amount of new students who've shifted into our course.

The thing is though, the method of the split was highly controversial. I'm in JOU3-2 next semester and actually I'm quite fine with the schedule and as much as it's sad that I'll be away from my other original classmates in JOU3-1, I can't complain much. It's inevitable that something like this could happen.

The problem? Three current irregular students were given slots in JOU3-1 next semester. They are Abbie, Franco, and Hero. The argument? The three will be separated from their group of irregular students who are in JOU3-2. All of them have to petition for similar subjects next semester which they still don't have, and it would be easier on them if they had the same schedule.

But no, Sir Palad has to play god again and to increase "unity and camraderie" among the third year Broadcast Journalism class, he has decided to split even the irregular students. What a burden on them.

That's the biggest and nastiest bullshit I've ever heard of in my entire life.

It's a bullshit that could be fixed and remedied if Sir would just listen to his advisees. To hell, he walked out and avoided a dialogue with my blockmates since he perceived that we were filled with angst and questioned his decisions again.

There are many times I've tolerated the attitude of our adviser. I've managed to stay neutral because sometimes it just hurts to kick a boulder. But now, not facing our blockmates this past week was just cowardice. It makes me ill just to think about it.

I know Sir is busy handling several classes, but he's making his own problems here in JOU3-1. He is making life harder for EVERYONE. He can easily solve it by being open to SUGGESTIONS. He needs to DEAL WITH JOU3-1 not in a sense to play god, but in a sense to play a responsible adviser.

I'm no Frances Demisana, but still

Layout week at Heraldo Filipino was traumatic as well. Nothing went on the schedule I had set for the nth time. I'm disappointed that some section editors haven't taken my special assignments seriously. They can give me more bullshit about how they're busy handling their staff and other sorts, but that isn't an excuse to set aside an assignment given to them by a senior editor.

I didn't speak up this past week about that. But come next week, if I don't see anything, I will remind them. Trust me, "I will remind them" is actually me saying it in the nicest way.

I finished my column for HF19N2 and it's entitled "Please keep silence!". It's about speaking english properly in order to write english properly. It's not the best column I can offer, but given the situation my life is in now- it's the best I can come up with.

Eric's LS is still in the warehouse. We might have to do some dusting by the time it arrives for distribution. Fuck that contract.

Before you landed
I had a will but, didn't know what it could do
You were abandoned and still your handing out what you dont want to lose
You make me drop things
like all the plans i had for a life without you

Someone to die for
Someone to fall into when the world goes dark
Someone to die for
Someone to tear a hole in this endless night
Someone...like you

I'm drunk when sober
the room is spinning
you are what i hold onto

You're taking over
I find that giving in is the best that i can do

Someone to die for
Someone to fall into when the world goes dark
Someone to die for
Someone to tear a hole in this endless night
Someone...like you

Someone to die for
Someone to die for
Someone to die...
Someone
Someone
Someone

Someone to die for
Someone to fall into when the world goes dark
Someone to die for
Someone to tear a hole in this endless night
Someone.....
Someone..... LIKE YOU

SOMEONE TO DIE FOR. Brian May and Jimmy Gnecco.
From the Original Soundtrack of Spider-man 2.

UP AHEAD: Teatro's "Mang Serapio"

My classmates Tope, Arjay, Jhen, and Athena will be part of "Ang Paglilitis ni Mang Serapio", Teatro Lasalliana's major production this season.

I was invited (and honored) to do their pictorial about three weeks ago. I liked how the pictures turned out, and to say all I did was take the pictures. The Teatro peeps continue to inspire me because I always see their hardships (like the rest of PAG) and the fruit of their labor which emerges out of it.

Here are some pictures of that pictorial.

"Ang Paglilitis ni Mang Serapio" will be shown at Severino de las Alas Hall or the Alumni Building from September 20 to 24. They will be doing three shows every day.

Shifting forward

I did some things this past week which could re-shape and rumble the next few months if not become life changing. One of them involves personal finances and taking a bold venture into the dark hoping to emerge successfully after taking the "risk" that's been written on various horoscopes, signs, and birthdate scripts. Yes, it's probably stupid to believe in astrology to guide you in your life. But what if it's more than astrology that's telling you the same thing: "Take the risk". I've done some research and I've seen it through, I just needed that push.

Another involves being fearless. What do I have to lose? My reputation? That's just part of the word EGO. I refuse to just sit there waiting for things to come. I'm going to move forward and inspire others to live the way they want.

Because in this world, there really is only one thing to fear, God.
