MAD ABOUT GREEN
The Damage Report - Year 3 - Ending Week #27
Background Music: "Caught Up" by Usher
NOTE: This is a weekly blog entry that summarizes a series of events of a finished week in and around La Salle.
LET ME CATCH my breath.
I feel so twisted and entangled over the past week. It was a melting pot of the busiest days of this school year. What were the ingredients?
(5) cups of Lasallian Days
(5) cups of Media Awareness Days
(20) lbs. of HF and LS layout
(2) bags of ENR-2 production
(8) biscuits of Photojourn
I never imagined one week could be filled with such magnitude. It was definitely maddening because it was a minefield! I didn't enjoy it because I was having a hard time on deciding on which one to go to.
It's even more maddening that I couldn't get quality coverage and documentation (for my blog) because I didn't know where to position myself.

Open house
In first year I offered peanuts and cornik to my visitors. If I had served grape juice, it would have been a funeral wake.
In second year, I offered ice cream with a wide selection of toppings. From chunks of chocolate, colorful sprinkles, candies, all topped off with a Stik-O.
This year, I had absolutely nothing prepared. My classmates had their productions, my colleagues in the paper had their layout, and I myself was lost in photojourn coverage.

I did manage to go over to Abbie's. I couldn't enjoy Upper's pasta since I arrived late. I had a slice from Abbie's Greencab pizza which was on the table.

Photojourn coverage
Our group in JOU3-1 was in charge of covering the first day of the Lasallian Days. I was assigned to cover three events namely the dorm open house, CLA pre-employment seminar, and the Alumni Idol.

Double press week
Layout of HF4 and LS3 went on this past week. That chained Maycee and Eric to the office while I decided there wasn't much else I could do since I already edited all articles for these two issues and I also submitted my column already.

There is one exception though, my article for Eric on CD and Web reviews is still pending. I don't know what's wrong with me in that article, I can only link it to the part of me that isn't empowered to write for Features anymore.

Director
Sir Rivera apparantly liked TEAM QRSVP's production last week and he asked me if I wanted to become the director of the news program production. Naturally, knowing that my hands are already tied up with other things, I would turn the opportunity down and suggest Sir find someone else who has good potential.
But then I remembered my problem in HF, the part of me that isn't empowered or enlightened. I said to myself, this is it... someone is empowering me for once! It's Sir Rivera.
So, I didn't turn down this chance to finally prove something to myself. I want to take this chance and establish a bolder JOU 3-2 production to pit up next to the JOU 3-1 production to be headed by my friend Arjay.

In the past two weeks, I've noticed I'm starting to get closer to my ENR-2 classmates. Jay, Lovely, Hermie, Joyce, Ray and a few others. This was the other thing I wanted after I made the big shift to JOU 3-2 this past semester. Of course, the other thing or reason relates to a personal matter.
These guys are different from the people I met in JOU 3-1. But they don't lack in the level of talent and energy. I am blessed to be part of a batch (3rd year) that isn't in the lost world, these people can be so exciting and charged up, maintain a poker or serious face, and achieve the projects.

Nicotine
In Cinematography we were required to watch four films from the Cinema Nicotine festival at the viewing rooms of the old library. The aspiring film maker in me wanted to watch all the films, but given the minefield of events this past week, I only managed to catch two.
"The Last Temptation of Jesus Christ" and "Osama". I wanted to watch a couple of others. Kate and I happened to have caught up with the last half of "Summer Dress" about these two French gay men. These two men were aggressive.
In "The Last Temptation" I actually found myself falling asleep. I thought it was a tear-jerker since it would test my faith, but knowing that it was fictional (even the director admitted it), I just found the rest not that interesting.
In "Osama", it was a different story. It was a definite eye-opener. The ending was sad and a cliffhanger. Poor girl.
I still have to watch two other films and review them before next Tuesday.

Fashion expo
I was clearly wrapped in sadness during this year's fashion exposure. I didn't get a haircut in the past two weeks (it's quite long now actually) just because I thought I could use it as an asset if I was to model.
Yes, to model. One evening this past week I shampoo'd my hair and after the foam ran out I looked in the mirror at the shape my hair formed. I looked like a thin version of Takuya Yamamura on 2046! Haha!
After watching and supporting Abbie in last year's Fashion Exposure, my craving to hit the stage at least once this college life came back. This past year I was thinking about who my designer would be. The guys look all bold and daring up on stage.
Fashion Exposure, to me, is a chance to just change how you look like. I wanted to alter my image. My hair in a 2046-inspired setup, my clothes looking futuristic and ethnic converged into one.
I know I'm thin.
I know I got that dorky walk.
I know no one would picture me joining these things.
But that's just it! No body would picture me joining these things. Leah won her pageant in high school, Tom won Mr. Exec Looks for CBA, Andrew (Abbie's boyfriend) competed in Mr. CET, Abbie has done LIA nights and Fashion Expo... all my Teatro classmates are obviously always on stage.
It's just this craving to stop writing. To stop being the backstage dude. To just model!
I would have joined this year if I knew when the audition/sign-up time was at. But none of these things were posted anywhere at JFH. Mark Baquiran, a colleague in HF, was the director of the activity but he was no where to be found.
I'm really disappointed I couldn't join this year. But for sure, I'm going to join the next one. I'm going to clear my schedule next year. I'll take my OJT in advance. I'll finish other requirements... I WILL model down that stage. I will not graduate until I do!
Hahaha. I'm serious. I'll have someone conjure up a concept with me as early as 1st semester next year. I'll start collecting THE PRODIGY CDs and improving on my walk.
Anyways, Abbie was the only representative from JOU 3rd year. Both sections (3-1 and 3-2) are busy with productions already that's why. I told Franco I wanted to join, and he told me "they were trying to convince him to join".
Would he have been on stage wearing something Sky designed for a man? Cool! But, he's not even into those things. He turned the invitation down. Haha.
Phoebe and Harley of COM3-1 modeled.
Nadine, dorm muse, of COM2-3 modeled and won Best Female Model.
Manilyn of JOU2-1 (also an HF Literary staffer) modeled.
Jomi of COM 3-3 and Teatro Lasalliana modeled.
JOU models included 1 first year, 2 second year, and 1 third year.

Fever pitch
Tom came down with a fever on Friday night and Saturday morning. His temperature reached 39.3 C, his neck was like a sizzling plate.
Leah was allowed to enter the dorm and she took good care of him. She managed to get his temperature down to 37 C again... but his temperature fluctuated back to 38 later on.
