THEY WOULD RATHER

I brought the petition to the Campus Ministry Office yesterday afternoon. They were delighted by the effort and would make arrangements with the Marketing 4-2 and 4-3 students. The retreat for JOU4-1 and JOU4-2 will be held in one venue under two separate sessions.

It was the opposite however among some of my classmates in JOU4-2. There were a number of people who refused to sign the petition because they wanted the JOU4-2 to be separated from JOU4-1. Others also prefer having their retreat at Angel's Hills.

It's disappointing how instead of camaraderie among the fourth year class, some would rather brush it off. One time my professor in Investigative Journalism asked me when she saw the petition, "Where do you guys want your retreat to be?"

I responded with a smile, "It doesn't matter where, as long as the fourth year class is together."

The JOU4-1 signatories was perfect. Not a single one refused to sign. The JOU4-2 signatories was not perfect, but we have to respect people's views and opinions.

But what bothers me most is when I hear that the venue is more important than having the entire fourth year class together. To me, I'd love to go camping even if it's raining with the entire batch rather than stay in secluded hotel rooms by the beach.

Not everyone shares my opinion. I respect that.

But for being the president of the program council and seeing that your two senior year classes don't share this vision, it sort of hits you.

Like I said to Hermie and Franco, it's hard to please everyone.
